Welcome to Under Canvas. Blending an eclectic mix of music, art and design under one roof, Under Canvas brings a night of festival inspired revelry to St Andrews all with the aim of raising as much money as possible for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Officially endorsed by the Principal of the University, Louise Richardson, Under Canvas is brought to you by the committee responsible for The Masquerade
, and we’ve rebranded our event to build on what made last year’s ball so unique. Working with some of the UK’s most exciting music talent we’re looking forward to hosting a diverse range of DJs and bands at our event, whilst also offering up our venue as a blank canvas to some of St Andrews’ finest artists and illustrators. To kick-start our new concept, and demonstrate just what it is that Under Canvas stands for, we hosted a powder paint fight on West Sands to give students an idea of the vibrancy of our event. The powder paint fight encompasses the same energy and excitement that we know our event, and our committee embodies, and why these bright and colourful images are the face of this cause. We want Under Canvas to provide attendees with something unique, something that they’ll remember long after the night itself is over, whilst also building a lasting awareness about a cause that everyone on the committee feels extremely passionate about. We’ve had a few years practice at running events, experimenting with new ideas and exploring new directions, and now we’re ready to re-launch what we started back in 2009, giving it a new lease of life for 2013.
