St Andrews Churches Eco Network

St Andrews Churches Eco Network An ecumenical group set up to share, support, listen, learn, campaign and work alongside other groups in St Andrews as we endeavour to live more sustainably.

Mission Statement

St Andrews Churches Eco Network provides an informal forum for promoting greener and more sustainable ways of living informed by members’ Christian faith. Its members are drawn from “town and gown” communities across St Andrews. The objectives of St Andrews Churches Eco Network are to:
• raise awareness of green issues within “town and gown” communities across St Andrews;
• publ

icise meetings and campaigns, both local and international, promoting greener and more sustainable ways of living;
• act as a hub for co-ordinating and initiating activities undertaken by its members and associated churches. St Andrews Churches Eco Network comprises members drawn from local churches and St Andrews University.

• Membership is open to Christians who endorse and wish to promote greener and more sustainable ways of living;
• Members who hold a representative role on behalf of a local St Andrews church must have this approved by the appropriate church body (Kirk Session, Vestry, Congregational meeting etc.) As a network, we work with supporters of all faiths and none.

We're so grateful to all the students who donated their unwanted clothes, books, kitchen items, bedding and so much more, before they left town for the summer break. Thank you!

We are now busy sorting everything so that new and returning students can preorder our preloved sustainable bedding bundles, and enjoy picking up all their student essentials at the annual Big Give Away in Freshers' Week.

Our St AndReuse partner charity the St Andrews Environmental Network have been able to source bedding and other essentials for their work supporting households in need. Local schools have also benefited from toys, games and stationery for their fundraising summer fayres, and the School of Earth & Environmental Sciences have been able to restock on outdoor clothing and boots to lend to their students doing fieldwork.

Unfortunately so much still ends up in the skips and bins. But if you love what we do, then please spread the word and encourage everyone you know to join our local sharing economy!

We made it! Despite poor weather forecast we were blessed with perfect walking conditions and only a few light(ish) showers as we walked the Pilgrim Way from Kennoway to Ceres yesterday. A big thank you to Simon Hesset Fife Pilgrim Way Pastor for leading us at a pace we could all manage and to all at St. Kenneth’s Parish Church for their friendly welcome and hospitality before we set off!
