One of the loveliest things about Playgroup isn't something you can put out on a table.

Of course, I love watching the children grow in confidence, make friends and discover new things each week. It's always a little bittersweet when it's time for them to move on.

But one of the things I enjoy just as much is seeing the friendships that grow between the grown-ups. A chat over a cup of tea can turn into lasting friendships, and it's lovely to see families becoming part of the wider community at Sprotbrough Methodist Church, whether that's joining us for another event or simply feeling they have a familiar face to say hello to.

For me, that's what Playgroup has always been about—a welcoming place for children and the people who bring them.

We're looking forward to seeing those friendships continue when we return in September.

😊 Never been to our playgroup before?

Every child is different, and that's exactly how we like it.

Some arrive ready to explore every corner of the room, while others prefer to stay close to their adult, for a little while before joining in.

Our mornings are relaxed, with free play, crafts, songs, stories and time to chat. There's no pressure—just a welcoming space where everyone can settle at their own pace.

We're already looking forward to another lovely term together.

☀️ Wishing all our playgroup families a lovely summer! ☀️

We're taking a break for the next six weeks, but we'll be back in September ready for another fun-filled term.

Whether you're off on holiday or staying closer to home, we hope you enjoy spending some quality time together. Remember, little ones are often happiest with the simplest things. A visit to the park, feeding the ducks, a picnic, collecting leaves and sticks, and we all know a cardboard box can provide hours of fun.

We'll be busy getting cleaning and sorting everything ready for September and look forward to seeing lots of familiar faces (and hopefully a few new ones too!) when we return.

There's been a toddler group running at Sprotbrough Methodist Church for over 50 years! 😮

Over the years, we've welcomed generations of local families through our doors. We now have mums who came as babies bringing along their own little ones, and grandparents who once brought their children are now returning with their grandchildren.

We're incredibly proud to have been a small part of village life for so many years. While plenty has changed over the decades, one thing has stayed the same: we still provide a friendly, welcoming space where children can play, learn and make friends—and where parents, carers and grandparents can enjoy a chat and make new friendships too.

Here's to continuing the tradition for many years to come. 💛

🌼 Another September is just around the corner...

It might seem early to be thinking about a new term, but we're already looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Playtime.

Each week we play, do crafts, listen to stories, with plenty of opportunities for little ones to explore and make new friends, while parents, grandparents and carers can enjoy a chat over a cuppa.

It's always exciting to see familiar faces return and to welcome families joining us for the very first time.
