🏔️EXPEDITION COMPLETE! 🎉

A huge congratulations to 4 of our NCOs who have successfully completed their Gold DofE Expedition in the stunning Dolomites! 🇮🇹👏
Their adventure began with a day of team building, route preparation and food planning, before taking on four challenging days in the mountains. Along the way, they tackled incredible terrain and summited several peaks, including the mighty Col di Lana. 🥾⛰️
But the adventure didn’t stop there! The cadets took cable cars high into the mountains to reach Marmolada, where they got to experience the breath taking glacier. 🏔️❄️ They then took on a thrilling Via Ferrata, climbing steep rock faces using cables, ladders and sheer determination! 💪🧗
After conquering the mountains, it was time for a well-earned change of pace. The final few days were spent exploring the incredible city of Venice, taking in the sights, soaking up the Italian culture and celebrating an amazing achievement. 🇮🇹🚤
From mountain peaks to glaciers, vertical rock faces to Venetian canals — what an expedition! 🌄➡️

🏅 Congratulations, Sgt Booth! 🏅

A huge congratulations to Sgt Amy Booth on achieving her Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award.

The Gold Award is the highest level of the DofE programme and represents years of dedication, perseverance, and personal development. Amy's achievement is a testament to her commitment, resilience, and determination, and everyone at the Squadron is incredibly proud of her success.

To celebrate this outstanding accomplishment, Amy was invited to attend the Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award Presentation at Buckingham Palace, held as part of the 70th Anniversary celebrations of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

Reflecting on the experience, Sgt Amy Booth said:

"Completing my Gold DofE Award has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences I have ever undertaken. Attending the Gold Award celebration at Buckingham Palace as part of the DofE's 70th Anniversary celebrations was an incredible honour and a fantastic way to mark the end of my DofE journey.

I would like to thank everyone who supported me along the way, particularly the staff and fellow cadets at 1406 (Spalding) Squadron. Their encouragement, guidance and belief in me helped me overcome challenges and stay motivated throughout the programme. The opportunities, experiences and skills I have gained through the RAF Air Cadets have played a huge part in helping me achieve this award, and I am incredibly grateful for all their support."

Sgt Booth continues to be an excellent role model within the Squadron and a fantastic ambassador for the RAF Air Cadets. Her achievement reflects not only her own hard work and dedication, but also the supportive environment provided by the Squadron's staff and cadets, who continually encourage young people to challenge themselves and reach their full potential.

👏 Please join us in congratulating Sgt Booth on this remarkable achievement!

Adventure Training Camp – Inskip

A couple of our cadets headed to a cloudy Inskip to take part in an exciting multi-activity training camp.

During the camp, they completed their Bronze NNAS Award, tried their hand at climbing and archery, and travelled to the beautiful Lake Windermere for ghyll scrambling, rafting, and Zip World adventures.

The camp also gave cadets the opportunity to work towards and earn a range of badges, including Shooting, Space, Cyber, and Leadership.

Our cadets had an amazing time, developing new skills, building confidence, and making lasting memories.

A huge thank you to all the staff whose hard work and dedication made this fantastic experience possible!

This week we welcomed ex 1406 cadet Captain Lee Haunch to the squadron to give a talk to our cadets about his role in Elementary Flying Training for RAF pilots. Captain Haunch explained the processes and courses that trainee pilots have to go through to give our cadets an understanding of the system. The talk was very interesting and hopefully inspired some of our cadets to become pilots themselves!
