Now home to Southwold Library, The Canteen, the Geography Fieldwork Academy, and The Studio. The Old Hospital is a community success story. When Southwold and Reydon's Victorian community hospital closed in 2017, we led a grassroots campaign to save it from demolition and redevelopment as second homes. Together with our community, we transformed it into a thriving hub that opened its doors again i
n 2022. Today, The Old Hospital is home to nine affordable homes, a thriving Southwold Library, our nationally recognised community cafe, The Canteen café, and our fitness and wellbeing centre Southwold Gym. Everything we do is guided by our mission: creating opportunities to build a brighter and fairer community. Through community meals, our Pay It Forward scheme, Family Tea Club, holiday activities and educational programmes, we're tackling social isolation, food insecurity and creating opportunities for local children, young people and families. Whether you're visiting the library, meeting friends over coffee, taking part in an activity, enjoying one of our community events or simply looking for a welcoming place to spend time, you'll always be welcome at The Old Hospital.
