Almost ready to welcome the young people aboard. Virtually all is complete and Supeta is smelling of fresh varnish and paint. Sporting new non-slip on the decks and a fancy cushioned type in the cockpit. Had to buy some new lifejackets as had failures on the safety condition check, not cheap but essential. Even took the galley floor covering out and scrubbed it clean. The things we do for the lads and lassies!!!

Almost ready for the young people to start sailing. Deck non-slip painted and a lot of other work carried out in preparation. Inside washed down with disinfectant.. Found a stowaway lurking in a side locker and evicted. 👀👀😳😳

Two coats of primer on the decks with Non-Slip top coats to go. Need sun glasses to look at it. Soon be ready for our youngsters to enjoy SUPETA this coming season.

Volunteers have been busy coating the deck with a new non-slip surface. Have a few more coats to apply but looking very different already.
Anyone wishing to help using a paint brush to help, is very welcome.

It's raining, misty horrible day. Just right for getting on with jobs onboard SUPETA.
Just fitted a more powerful EPIRB which relays our position to a satellite in space. This is an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon. If activated, sends our position straight to the Coastguard and other emergency services.
It was kindly donated by Dave, a retired airline pilot.

Great opportunity if you love the water

Chichester Harbour Conservancy offers exciting work experience placements each year for two students aged 14–18 who are curious about careers in the outdoors, conservation and harbour management.

Our placements give you a real taste of working in nature conservation, harbour management and environmental education. You’ll shadow our expert team, head out on site visits, help with education activities, and even spend time on the water—all while discovering the wide range of careers that help protect this special place.

When to apply
Applications open in the autumn for placements taking place the following year. Successful applicants will be contacted in mid-December to confirm dates. All unsuccessful applicants will be notified.

Enormous relief to see SUPETA back to doing what she does best - Sailing with young people onboard.

She is the only charity community based sail training yacht in this part of the world and having her out of use while waiting for the main mast to be worked on has been a sad time. However, now back and raring to go.

She is back!!!!!
Unexpectedly had to have the main mast taken off which put activities on hold for 5-6 weeks. Really spoilt holiday activities. Pleased to say all finished and sailing again. Ready to welcome young people onboard again. Carried out a lot of small jobs while out of action but raring to go again.
Thanks to those that came and helped get the sails back on and all the control lines reinstalled.
