The early bird catches the dawn chorus! Save Badgers Field are organising a celebration of International Dawn Chorus Day, at 5.30 am this Saturday. Please join us! We will gather at the gates to Southwell Cemetery, at the bottom of the lane to Potwell D**e Grasslands. More details below. Southwell Minster

This lovely male Emperor Moth visited Potwell D**e Grasslands earlier in the week. Hopefully we will see him again at our work party on Saturday morning. If you'd like to join us to help protect this special place for nature, come along to the Grasslands between 10 - 12 on saturday morning. We meet at the entrance from Harveys Field. Beautiful Emperor Moth, found today in Potwell D**e Grasslands, right next to Badger's Field. The caterpillars feed on brambles, so very good to see this species around despite all the cutting back of brambles that has taken place on Badger's Field.

The Cowslips are starting to come out on the Potwell D**e Grasslands! If you fancy getting out in nature this Easter Saturday, please join our sociable work party to help look after these wonderful wildflower meadows, right in the centre of Southwell! Looking to enjoy some glorious sunshine, beautiful countryside and great company this Saturday? Why not join a volunteer session at Southwell Minster’s Potwell D**e Grasslands? We meet at 10 am at Harveys Field and work for an hour or two What3Words ///pans.refer.nature. We’ll be clearing some vegetation and sawing up a few fallen branches. As 2025 draws to a close and another great year of conservation work. The PODGAG great and good were out in force at The Waggon and Horses Halam yesterday for our annual Christmas lunch. Great to see many new and long standing members of the group, all with one thing in common, an amazing passion for protecting our special site. Huge thanks to the staff at the Waggon for looking after us so well and the great food. A very Happy Christmas to everyone especially those that couldn’t make it and have volunteered during 2025, including our great friends from Nottingham Trent University Brackenhurst - School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences
