Meet Olivia, a DFN Snowdon Master’s Scholar studying Education (Knowledge, Power and Politics) at the University of Cambridge. She is an advocate for young people aiming to influence policy specifically at the intersection of lived experience, children's rights, disability inclusion and family court proceedings.
During her studies so far, Olivia has produced a dialogue exploring the ‘Everyday Business’ report published by the Domestic Abuse Commissioner’s office in October 2025, and had lectures on official knowledge, governing, policy and justice. Her thesis will be on the voice and agency of young adults that have experienced childhood private family law proceedings.
As a member of the Family Justice Young People’s Board (FJYPB), Olivia takes part in policy discussions, conferences and speaking engagements, sharing young people’s views and making sure they are central to decision making. Recently, Olivia spoke for her fourth time at the Family Justice Council annual conference, this time speaking on technology and AI in the family justice system and its impact on children and young people. She was also awarded an Influence in Action award by the FJYPB for her commitment to improving domestic abuse practice for children.
In her spare time, Olivia is also the Secretary for the Sign Language Society, helping organise classes, handling the communication and supporting at events.
