BREAKING: A slaughterhouse has been identified on the outskirts of Yulin, China that slaughters dogs for the Yulin dog meat “festival.” We’re supporting the permanent closure of this slaughterhouse, but time is running out!

With the festival fast approaching, time is of the essence to save the surviving dogs and shut the operation down for good. Please consider donating to support our rescue work for these and all other animals.

China is the world’s largest exporter of fur, with eight million wild animals trapped in terribly cruel conditions. Just last month we revealed animals held in cramped and filthy cages and denied all their natural behaviours.

But behind the misery there is some good news. The fur market is in decline, with an 86% reduction in animals kept and killed for fur worldwide over the last ten years. The fur industry is clinging on, hoping for a comeback, but with your help we’re not going to let that happen. Together we can end this cruel trade for good.

The UK banned fur farming 23 years ago, but we still import fur from around one million animals who have suffered overseas. If it’s too cruel to farm here, it’s too cruel to sell here. Before the last election, Labour pledged to end this cruel[CB2.1] and unnecessary trade – please ask your MP to help make that happen.

Now, this is the kind of financial news we can welcome! The Bank of England has shortlisted 18 native species that could feature on future notes, from grey seals and red foxes to kingfishers and marsh fritillary butterflies.

We’re delighted to see the Bank of England celebrating animals native to the UK and hope this moment helps shine a light on why every species deserves protection as well as admiration. Voting is open until 3 July. Who gets your vote? We are finding it impossibly hard to choose! https://www.theguardian.com/business/2026/jun/03/puffins-dolphins-bumblebees-new-uk-banknotes-shortlist

Right now, the government wants your views on closing the loopholes in the Hunting Act. But what are these loopholes and why are they a problem?

Whilst hunting with dogs was banned in 2004, there are exemptions, like claiming it's for "pest control" or "research."

Time and again, hunts have been found to exploit these loopholes to get away with chasing and killing wild animals. And it gets worse. To convict someone, you have to prove they intended to pursue the animal. Simply proving an animal was chased or killed isn't enough to break the law.

Banning trail hunting isn't enough. We need tougher penalties and we need to close these loopholes for good. It is time to consign hunting with dogs to the history books.

It's time for change. You can find out how you can make your voice heard by filling in the consultation using our guide here > https://www.humaneworld.org/uk/en/campaign/2026-hunting-consultation-uk

Please join Ricky Gervais and help us act for animals and ban cruel fur imports into the UK.

Trembling in small, barren wire cages, spinning and pacing out of frustration and boredom, and then beaten to death with a wooden bat or electrocuted - these are the brutal scenes from a new investigation on fur farms in China.

Fur farming is cruel wherever it happens in the world, and the UK is currently complicit in that cruelty. We have built huge public and political support for a Fur-Free Britain, but recent press reports say that in negotiations for a trade agreement with the EU – the ‘EU reset’ – the government is willing to sacrifice our freedom to ban imports of products, like fur. We must not let this happen.

Please take action and urge your MP to pressure ministers to say no to trading in cruelty > https://action.humaneworld.org/page/191834/action/1

🥵Thirsty? So are many wild animals!

If you have a garden, driveway or any outside space available, you can give wildlife a helping hand by leaving out a shallow bowl of fresh clean water (clean bowls and change the water regularly). Add stones and pebbles to the bowl just in case any animals fall in so that they can get out. Providing a shallow bird bath means birds can both drink and bathe.

Our recent investigation showed the real horrors inside a China fur farm. The UK imported over £60 millions of fur from China in the last decade. Please help us stop this barbaric trade and ask your MP to support a ban on all fur imports and sales. > https://action.humaneworld.org/page/191834/action/1

Our investigators visited five fur farms in northern China and found thousands of mink, foxes and raccoon dogs confined in tiny barren wire cages, exhibiting signs of severe psychological distress. Dead animals were found littering the ground beneath the cages.

Despite banning fur farming over two decades ago, the UK has imported more than £60 million worth of fur from China alone in the last decade. And the cruelty isn't the only concern — a 2024 Nature study identified 39 viruses on Chinese fur farms classed as high-risk for spill over to humans. Virologists warn fur farms could be the source of the next pandemic.

The global fur trade is in freefall — an 86% decline in a decade. 50 MPs and Peers are demanding action. 77% of the public supports a ban. The UK's own Animal Welfare Committee has condemned the suffering involved.

Please urge your MP to take action and ban cruel imports and sales of fur > https://action.humaneworld.org/page/191834/action/1

Our partner investigators in China have shared heartbreaking new footage of animals caged and beaten to death for their fur, fur that could be shipped to the UK. Why ban cruelty here and then carry on importing it?

Over 50 cross-party MPs and Peers have signed Ruth Jones MP’s Fur Free Britain campaign letter to the Defra Secretary calling on the Government to stop trading in fur cruelty.

🗣️ Please add your voice so the Government hears that this matters! Find the link to take action in the comments 🙏

Don’t miss your chance to act for animals.

The UK banned fur farming because it’s cruel. But fur can still be imported and sold here. 77% of the public supports a fur import ban, and 93% reject wearing fur. Over 200 MPs support the Fur Free Britain campaign, and we need urgent action from the Government.

If it is too cruel to produce in the UK, it is too cruel to support through imports. Now is the time for the Government to ban fur imports and sales for good, and we need your voice. > https://action.humaneworld.org/page/191834/action/1
