What a brilliant day at delivering our Re Write the Story workshop to Year 8 students!

The students explored a story about knife crime and joint enterprise, looking at the choices the characters made, the consequences of those decisions and how things could have been different.

They then worked in groups to turn what they’d learnt into their own powerful audio messages, aimed at helping younger students recognise and avoid risky behaviour.

And the results were brilliant! Have a listen to what they created!

A huge thank you to for funding this work and making these sessions possible. FPC have been fantastic supporters of our campaign for many years, and their continued belief in what we’re trying to achieve means so much. Great feedback from the Hollins

Our Re Write the Story workshop recently took us to the Hollins school, where Year 8 students explored knife crime, joint enterprise, friendship influences and the choices that can change someone’s future.

The students then turned what they’d learnt into their own lyrics, creating a powerful audio message aimed at younger students.

We received some fantastic feedback from the school’s Assistant Head, who praised how engaged the pupils were throughout the sessions.

Hear directly from one of the Year 6 teachers at
St.Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Preston about today’s Dear MP workshop.

We worked with both Year 6 classes, exploring leadership and how their voices can make a difference. The children wrote to Mark Hendrick Mp Preston asking him to support the kNOwKnifeCrime campaign in Parliament and help secure funding for bleed control equipment in their community.

Our hope is that their letters lead to action and show the children the power of speaking up.

Dear MP is one of two workshops we’re delivering across Lancashire in partnership with Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner, Lancashire Constabulary and local authority partners.

We are delighted to share that the kNOwKnifeCrime campaign has been commissioned to deliver two of our youth anti-knife crime workshops across schools throughout Lancashire.

Working collaboratively with Lancashire OPCC, , and , we’re bringing Dear MP and Re Write The Story to primary and secondary schools across the region.

Dear MP helps Year 6 children understand their voices matter. They learn about leadership and the role of their local MP, before writing letters asking for support for bleed-control equipment in their communities.

Re Write The Story explores choices, consequences and joint enterprise with Year 8 students. They then create peer-to-peer audio messages aimed at the Year 7 cohort, encouraging them to avoid risk-taking behaviours and make safer choices.

This video features feedback from teachers at Woodnook Primary School in Hyndburn, where Year 6 children have taken part in Dear MP.

Hearing teachers reflect on the sessions means so much. We want young people to leave feeling informed, confident and able to make a positive difference in their communities.

Reducing Knife Crime & Saving Lives 🌟

Knowknifecrime CIC has been awarded £3,000 from the Merseyside Community Investment Fund.

This will fully fund the delivery of 5 Every Second Counts workshops in colleges across the Liverpool City Region, reaching up to 850 young people with vital knife crime awareness and potentially life-saving skills.

From the classroom to Parliament.

Earlier this year, we delivered our Dear MP workshop to Year 6 children at St James’ Primary School.

As part of the workshop, the children wrote to David Baines MP in support of the kNOwKnifeCrime campaign’s ambition to increase the availability of bleed control equipment in their local community.

What happened next demonstrates the power of children’s voices.

Their campaign was raised in Parliament with the Policing Minister, inspired a local community organisation to get involved, led to the installation of a new bleed control kit, and resulted in a personal letter from the Prime Minister recognising the children’s efforts.

This is exactly why we deliver the Dear MP workshop. We want children to understand that their voices matter and that they have the power to influence positive change within their communities.

We’re incredibly proud of every child who took part.

What a weekend! 💙

It all started on Friday when we were invited by Financial Planning Corporation to the Merseyside Women Of The Year. It was beyond inspiring to hear so many incredible stories of women making a real difference across our region.

A special mention has to go to Moira O'Shaughnessy from FPC. She has been a fantastic supporter of the campaign since we first met, and she’s a legend in her own right. It was so lovely to watch her daughters looking on with such pride as she delivered a brilliant speech. Moments like that remind us just how important role models are.

From there, we headed straight to support the incredible Alex Rigby-Bem from Centre 56 as he took on another unbelievable challenge – Running the Railways 3. Running 5K every hour, on the hour, for 24 hours! 🤯

I am in absolute awe of Alex Rigby-Bem determination, commitment and passion for making a difference. He has an amazing ability to bring communities together to achieve something extraordinary.

The message I’ve heard time and time again this weekend is that we are stronger together. We’re living in very divided times, but when people come together, support one another and work as one team, incredible things can happen.

A huge thank you to Financial Planning Corporation and Alex Rigby-Bem for a top-tier weekend filled with positivity, resilience, inspiration and, as we say in Liverpool… pure brilliance!

Today, the team met with the Youth Organising Committee representing schools across the North Liverpool Learning Network.

The children are busy preparing for their relay event on Monday 29th June, which will see schools from across the North Liverpool Learning Network come together to raise funds for bleed control equipment on their school premises.

Behind the scenes, pupils have been working hard on every aspect of the event, including designing the T-shirts that the runners will wear on the day. Today, the committee reviewed the designs and cast their votes to decide which design would be chosen. With so many fantastic entries, it certainly wasn’t an easy choice!

What makes this project so special is that the children are not just taking part, they are helping to lead it. From sharing ideas and voting on key decisions to fundraising for life-saving bleed control equipment, they are showing what can be achieved when young people are given the opportunity to make a positive difference.

We can’t wait to see all their hard work come to life on 29th June.

This week marked the launch of our Every Second Counts bleed control workshops across secondary schools in West Lancashire.

The programme combines an anti-knife crime assembly with practical, life-saving bleed control training for young people. During the assembly, we share the story behind the campaign, explore the realities of knife crime, discuss joint enterprise, and challenge some of the myths and misconceptions that young people may hear.

Following the assembly, students take part in hands-on bleed control workshops, learning exactly what to do if they are ever faced with an emergency situation where someone is suffering a serious bleed. These sessions provide young people with the knowledge and confidence to act while waiting for emergency services to arrive.

We’re delivering this project to full year groups from Year 7 through to Year 11, with up to 1,200 students expected to take part.

and we are incredibly grateful for her support. The impact of this project will be significant, helping to educate young people, challenge harmful behaviours, and equip them with practical skills that could one day help save a life.
