Wow, what an amazing week we’ve had at Southport Soup Kitchen! We have been blown away by your donations and kindness.

The weather is turning colder and the nights are quite chilly now. As always, our numbers increase at this time of year - although they never really went down over the summer. We gave out 182 hot, nutritious meals this week across the three days that we were open. Our thanks to our Stewmakers - Sid, Ann and Neil and his team at The Windmill - Southport.

Massive thanks also to our wonderful volunteers- cooking, serving, packing and unpacking, delivering talks - the list is endless!

Our volunteer Bina recently visited Birkdale High School to speak about the work we do supporting our community here in Southport and learnt that pupils had raised a whopping £607.50 for Southport Soup Kitchen!

On behalf of everyone at Southport Soup Kitchen we’d like to say a huge 💐THANK YOU💐 to everyone at Birkdale High. We are busier than ever and these funds will make a massive difference to us as we go forward into the cold winter months.

Our guests enjoyed a hearty lamb hotpot yesterday, courtesy of our Stewmaker Louise from Southport RFC. It was enjoyed by forty grateful guests who were full of compliments for the filling and nutritious meal. Big thanks to Louise and to Southport RFC who donated the cost of the ingredients.

Thanks to the fabulous baking skills of Kylie from Fancy a nibble cake club, we served yummy school cake and cherry Bakewell squares as a sweet treat and everyone loved them!

Massive thanks to our volunteers who were so busy yesterday - cooking and serving our guests and also sorting the wonderfully generous donations that have been coming in from our community. They give up their time for free and we so appreciate everything that they do.

Thank you everyone for your continued support of our small charity. You are all Soupiestars!

This week we were honoured to be invited to Holy Trinity Primary School in Southport to meet some of the delightful pupils that had donated to Southport Soup Kitchen for their Harvest Festival.

We would like to say a big huge 💐THANK YOU💐 to the whole Holy Trinity School community - pupils, parents, staff along with Holy Trinity Church, Southport for their massive donation of 22 bags of groceries. Thank you also to Alison, Maria and Ben of Holy Trinity PTA for their tireless efforts to to support the Soupie and our local community.

This donation will make a ginormous difference to our food stores as we head into our busy winter months. We are so grateful to you all.

On behalf of the volunteers and guests of Southport Soup Kitchen, we wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Andrew Andersen. We were so saddened to hear the news of his passing.

Andrew always had a big smile and some warm words whenever he came to the Soupie and we all enjoyed chatting with him.

Andrew’s family have asked that there be no flowers at the funeral, instead kindly requesting donations to be made to Light for Life Sefton and Southport Soup Kitchen.

His daughter Emily has set up a Go Fund Me and writes:

Our thoughts and condolences are with Andrew’s family at this very sad time.

We have served 308 hot meals in the last 10 days at Southport Soup Kitchen, including 94 last Sunday alone. We are used to this number in December but to be so busy in September - when we only open for 90 minutes, 3 days a week - really highlights the level of need at the moment.

Our Stewmakers have once again created some fabulous dishes - nutritious and packed with flavour. For an increasing number of our guests, this is the only hot meal that they will receive that day and it really does make a difference. Huge thanks to Lansdowne bistro ltd, Giles at D'vine Catering, Suzanne, Ste and Scott for their amazing food.

Once again, we have been blown away by the generosity of our local community. A massive Soupie 💐Thank You💐 to:

Lastly a special thank you to our phenomenal volunteer team who pitch in and show up, not just to serve our guests but to help with fundraising, collecting, preparing food bags, delivering and picking up - the list is endless and so is our gratitude!

We know we say it a lot but we really do appreciate every donation and message of encouragement from our wonderful local community. No donation is too small. It’s because of your generosity that we are able to keep our doors open, meeting the need for hot food support for the vulnerable individuals and families that need us. The impact of these donations is staggering. Thank you all so much for giving again and again.

We would like to say a great big ginormous Soupie THANK YOU to the wonderful church community of St John's, Birkdale for their bumper donation of 12 huge bags of groceries and cash donation from their Harvest Festival celebrations. We are so grateful for your kindness.

A massive thank you also to our volunteer Bina who went along to St John’s yesterday to talk about everything we do at Southport Soup Kitchen. Bina is an excellent speaker who is always in high demand at this time of year for her talks about the Soupie and we are so lucky to have her!

It’s been a wet and windy week here in Southport and definitely feels like summer is over! It has been a real privilege to serve the delicious hot food created by our stewmakers.

Southport Soup Kitchen has been serving hot food to people in need for almost 25 years now. We are a small, focused, local charity who rely on the support of our local community to keep our doors open. Every penny raised, goes directly back in to help feed the individuals and families that need us. Thank you to everyone that donates to us, you truly are amazing.
