Today our CEO attended the launch of the Liverpool City Region Homelessness Task Force. A gathering of representatives from each of the local authorities to hear about and discuss the Metro Mayor's vision to address homelessness locally. Steve Rotherham's speech echoed our own thoughts about the needs of the individuals for whom provide services. Lets hope that by working together we can significantly reduce the number of people experiencing homelessness by understanding why.

Today is Homelessness Sunday - a week before WORLD HOMELESSNESS DAY on 10th October.
The demand for our services has increased in Sefton as is the case across the UK and our need for public support is growing.
Please consider supporting Light for Life in its work to enable people experiencing homelessness to secure housing and receive vital ongoing support to address trauma, poor mental health, physical health conditions, addictions and so much more including our Release and Rebuild programme for individuals leaving prison.

Whilst financial help is always needed, we are always in need of toiletries, new underwear and socks, small vouchers for coffee shops. If you can help us to re-stock depleted cupboards - we would be so very grateful.

Useful meeting with Merseyside Police today to look at how Light for Life can support individuals who are recently released from Prison or are committing offences - often as a result of their circumstances including homelessness, ongoing mental health issues and addictions. Our Release and Rebuild programme is ready to help.

Meeting tomorrow for leaders of Homelessness Organisations with the Minister for Homelessness, Democracy, Communities and Faith, Florence Eshalomi, MP to look at Andy Burnham's plans for turning the Street Homelessness situation across the country around in the coming months. Meanwhile, the Liverpool City Region Homelessness Task force is already meeting - the official launch is next month. Light for Life is representing providers in Sefton particularly around Prison releases and Health Inclusion with our partners from the NHS and NPS.

On Saturday 19th September we are taking part in the Heritage open day at Holy Trinity Church Southport.
Light for Life has a long association with the church through founders, CEO and our Chaplaincy.

We look forward to meeting people and chatting about what we provide across the Borough - Housing Advice and support, Rough Sleeper Outreach, Intensive Support, Family Service, Health Inclusion Service and Release and Rebuild - our Offender Service.

Delighted to hear our name mentioned in Parliament earlier today. Also hopeful that Ministers will consider the barriers that are experienced by people with multiple complexities in accessing the pathways to accommodation - often repeating their sometimes traumatic and painful history repeatedly to fulfil the demands of the process whilst losing confidence. Looking forward to progressing the conversation

Excited that our Release and Rebuild Advisory partners are all poised to discuss release from prison, the needs of those with additional health and social needs, requirements for housing/accommodation and introductions to our staff supporting ex offenders in the community

We are very saddened to hear of the passing of Maureen Fearn last weekend.
Maureen was a Trustee at Light for Life for some time and made some valuable contributions to our service strategies.

We also attended the funeral last week of Dave Parry, a founder of Light for Life and member of the Board for many years.

They will be fondly remembered by all of us.
