Business has been brisk at 20b Station Road, Ainsdale since we opened our new Book Shop, selling a variety of fiction and non-fiction books for adults and children, jigsaws, vinyl records and DVDs/CDs. We are still selling books and jigsaws in the main Lions Shop on Liverpool Road but now have a much larger selection available for you to browse between both locations.
As before, 20b is still our donation centre for clothes, bric-a-brac, pictures, electrical goods, etc kindly donated for the Shop. We are also able to come and collect items if you have difficulty getting to us.
Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.

Can you help us make a difference this Christmas?

As part of its ongoing welfare programme, Southport Lions Club - UK has been producing and distributing Christmas Hampers across the Southport region for more than 40 years at a total cost of well over £250,000.

In December 2025 we provided a record 540 hampers, costing just under £15,000, to local families nominated by a wide range of different partner organisations such as the Family Wellbeing Centre, Light for Life, MacMillan Cancer Support and various local schools. This was only possible because of the generous support we receive from the Southport community, local farmers who provide fresh produce and a significant financial contribution made by Southport Hesketh Round Table 1199. We are also extremely grateful to our wonderful volunteers who continue to provide us with their valuable time.

We are currently in the process of planning for Christmas 2026 and our fundraising events include a Film Night at the Bijou Cinema on 23rd September 2026, when we are showing the multi-Oscar winning film The King’s Speech. Tickets cost £20 including a buffet and are only available from Steve Grindley ([email protected]).

If you would like to help us provide some Christmas cheer to local families in need of a little assistance, please get in touch for tickets. Everyone is welcome!

We’ve had a wonderful few days at this year’s Southport Flower Show. Enthusiastic crowds enjoying the various stalls and dropping off plants for us to store for them at the Plant Crèche. Last day tomorrow, we’re looking forward to seeing you!

20/08/2026

If you’re going along to the Southport Flower Show why not leave your purchases and bags at our Plant Crèche by the bandstand (for a small fee)? We also have large storage bags to buy and fill up throughout the day. Please pop by and say hello!

Tickets are still available to join us for this Oscar winning movie at the wonderful Bijou Cinema. A fun night to raise funds for those in our community that need a little extra help.

Thanks to money raised through your generous donations to The Lions Shop, we have been able to restore the gazebo in the Sensory Garden at Merefield School in Ainsdale. We have also been able to provide a mud kitchen and two raised planters (built by The Men’s Shed) for the pupils to enjoy. Pictured are Gemma Parker from Merefield School with President Mark Holden, Geoff Ryan and Steve Grindley from Southport Lions Club.

As part of our ongoing support for local community organisations, Southport Lions Club was once again delighted to be able to provide funds to help Home-Start Southport & Formby with their annual trip to Farmer Teds. The families had a fantastic time with over 100 children and parents attending.

At this year’s Southport Lions Film Night we will be showing this multi-Oscar winning film starring Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter.
Tickets now available, with all proceeds going to support our work in the community.
