Maria Moon Music CIC Empowering music in early years and Singing for health. We empower learning with Music from Birth

We help home schooling parents, Day carers & childminders with engaging music activities with our signature Music Monomodal Learning®™ approach. 🌻At Maria Moon Music CIC, we believe that music doesn’t belong only in classrooms — it belongs in living rooms, gardens, beaches, parks, and hearts. 🎵
We’re a community‑rooted music charity re‑imagining how families can experience music together — especia

lly those choosing a home education route or looking beyond traditional schooling. We know homeschooling parents do so much with so little, and we’re here to make music one of your easiest and most joyful subjects. You don’t need fancy equipment or formal training — just curiosity, rhythm, and connection.

💫 Our Mission:
To empower parents and home educators to bring music to life with their children — learning through play, imagination, and movement rather than formal lessons or rigid curriculums.

🎶 Our signature Approach: Music Monomodal Learning®™
Through our signature framework — Music from the Body®, Music from the Heart®, and Music from the Mind® — we make it simple for parents to nurture musical understanding through everyday play. We explore five natural musical dimensions — rhythm, tone, speed, volume, and contrast — turning sounds, songs, and spontaneous fun into meaningful early learning experiences. It’s music made simple and soulful — easy to deliver, deeply enriching, and designed for real life at home.

🌈 How We Support Home Educating Families:
Weekly community sessions for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers in Shoeburyness and nearby areas — flexible, friendly, and fun. Inclusive, neurodiversity‑affirming programmes with sensory, visual, and communication support. Projects for home education groups and family co‑ops, showing how to weave music naturally into your learning rhythms. Practical training for parents and childminders — no prior musical background needed! Learn how to use songs and rhythms to support language, confidence, and emotional development.

❤️ Our Belief:
Music isn’t a luxury — it’s a language every child deserves to speak. When music becomes part of daily home life, children shine with confidence, creativity, and connection. Whether in your kitchen, your garden, or your local park — you can teach music, and we’ll show you how. Because you don’t need to be a musician to make magic — just a parent who believes in the power of song.

🌟 A Beautiful Throwback to My Horizon English School Jumeirah Days 🌟

What a heartwarming video to revisit — over 11 years ago at Horizon English School, during one of my Music Specialist sessions with half of my wonderful FS2 class.

In this clip, I’m seated at the piano, guiding my young pupils through a school song we adapted to perform at the Assembly the following week.

The children stand proud, singing from memory — carefree, joyful, and full of music trying to sing and do their actions. This was a challenging song to perform but they pulled it off. The other half of the class are facing them so that they can learn from each group and improve.

Their confidence and connection remind me why I fell in love with teaching music in the first place.

💫 Back then, I taught an average of 100 students a day, in a highly inclusive school with arround 22% SEN students. It truly felt like living a dream — doing what I loved, sharing music, and nurturing young talent every single day.

✨ Today, as part of Maria Moon Music, our Music Specialist Instrumental sessions in Shoebury are opening doors for even more children — especially those with SEN and Autistic needs.

It's a space where every child can shine, grow in confidence, and experience the joy of self-expression through music.

If you’re a parent from those early days and would like a copy of this treasured video, please DM me — I’d be delighted to share it with you. 💖

Let’s continue to bring music, confidence, creativity, and inclusion into every child’s world.

🎶 Together, let’s make music a language everyone can speak.

🌿 Let’s Reimagine Play in Shoeburyness: What Can We Do for Our Children to Be Freer and Happier Outdoors?

Barcelona has launched a City-Wide Play Strategy that turns streets, squares, and green areas into spaces where children can freely explore, move, and connect with their city.

👉 It recognises something we’ve almost forgotten — play is not a luxury, it’s a right. The city is intentionally redesigning public space so children can feel safe, stimulated, and free to play outside every day.

🌸 What about Shoeburyness, Thorpe Bay, and Great Wakering in Coastal Essex?

Our coastline is full of natural beauty — open skies, sea air, and green spaces — yet many local children spend less time outdoors than ever before. Between safety concerns, traffic, and lack of inviting play areas, spontaneous outdoor play is becoming rare.

What if we asked instead:

Could streets near schools become low-traffic play zones at certain times of the day?
Could music and movement sessions, outdoor storytelling, or parent-child nature walks become a regular part of local community life?
Could our parks include shaded areas, musical instruments, or natural materials instead of only traditional playgrounds?
How might we bring more community-led learning—not structured classes, but spaces for connection, creativity, and confidence—to our youngest citizens?

💬 I’d love to hear from other parents, educators, and neighbours:
What changes would make it easier for our children to be freer, happier, and more connected with open spaces here in Shoeburyness?

Let’s spark a local conversation on how play — music, movement, and exploration — can help our little ones thrive right where we live.

Think you know the Recorder? I just bought one for one of my 14 year old student. It's a Tenor Recorder (a practice recorder) and I thought she should learn more about it as it relates to other types.

She did really well playing the scale in different Meters, rhythm patterns and getting the right hand pinky finger used to the mechanism.

It was a great first go at it. She smiled and was very pleased.

I explained as much as I could and then I found this video which is very good for kids and young performers alike, including the older folk like us.

Tenor recorders are tricky to play and require great finger positioning so don't start with this one until you're a confident player of Soprano or/Alto recorder.

It's never too late to learn. As we say in my country, Portugal. "Learning does not occupy any space".

Let's dive right in!

Thanks to the Luxembourg Orchestra for putting this together with the phenomenal Horsh for learners around the world.

You think you know the recorder? Think again. In this video, record...

🌟 Celebrating 6 Inspiring Years of The Design Cabin Group– Rochford Rising!

What an incredible honour to join Edmunds, Founder and Director of The Design Cabin Group, in celebrating the organisation’s 6th business anniversary here in Rochford last Friday!

As a local founder and director of Maria Moon Music CIC, I was truly inspired by the creative energy that filled the room.

We were graced with the presence of friends, supporters, and the local community who’ve been part of this journey — their warmth and commitment made this landmark celebration even more meaningful.
It was wonderful to share this moment with James! Well done!

✨ Because only when we work together can we truly achieve lasting impact.

The Design Cabin Community C.I.C show how creativity and purpose can shape a brighter, more connected future for Rochford and beyond.
Here’s to another chapter of design excellence, shared vision, and community impact — rooted in collaboration and heart.
