A team member working at a busy Southend support centre has offered a glimpse into the vital work of Harp, the city’s largest homelessness charity.

** CPR/DEFIB Training Sessions **

Since September 2023, our charity has been proud to able to provide free CPR/defib training sessions to local residents - in conjunction with Pronto Training and the 2 local rotary clubs of Thorpe Bay Rotary Club and Rotary Leigh on Sea, Essex

To date, we have held 20 session and provided these vital skills to over 500 people.

We are pleased to announce 3 confirmed dates in the diary (with many more to be added):-

3 November 2025 - Fitzwimarc School
15 April 2026 - Saxon Hall
30 September 2026 - Saxon Hall

Spaces for all these sessions can be booked using this link:-

All you need to do is enter how many spaces you'd like, your name and email address.

Each session starts at 7pm, last about 2.5 hours (including an interval for refreshments) and must be booked in advance - for insurance purposes, we cannot allow walk-ins on the evening!

🚴‍♂️ From Rough Sleeper to Outreach Hero 💙

Ben came to CHESS through our Winter Project, battling addiction and homelessness. With support, he turned his life around — and now he’s part of our team, working as an Outreach Worker helping rough sleepers across Chelmsford & Essex rebuild their lives.

This Sunday, Ben is cycling 55 miles from London to Brighton to raise vital funds for CHESS Homeless. He’s not just riding for change — he is the change. 🙌

Our shelves are officially EMPTY of sleeping bags and hand warmers – and with the nights turning colder, we can’t be without them.

If you’ve got a spare sleeping bag tucked away, or you’re able to pick up some hand warmers on your next shop, we’d be so grateful.
