We’re incredibly grateful to Angela for her strength and honesty in sharing Ryan’s story, and to David Burton‑Sampson MP for supporting this important conversation. Together we can raise awareness and help keep young people safe.💙
At my most recent surgery, I met with Angie to discuss the huge importance of raising awareness around the dangers and accessibility of drugs.
Tragically, this is a personal matter for Angie and her family. Her son, Ryan, passed away at just 18 years old last summer after taking only one pill on the very first night of his first lads’ holiday. Today, in his memory, she works closely with a local charity Open Road that provides help, support, guidance, and education around drugs and alcohol.
We discussed the incredible work she and Open Road do locally to raise this awareness, but also how it needs to go much further. Angie is an inspiration, and I will do all I can to help her and her campaigning to make sure we raise awareness, educate young people, and encourage safer choices.
