💛 Sometimes it's the little things that make the biggest difference! 💛

We were delighted to be able to help ‘M’, who has been through so much following extensive surgeries and treatment. 💕

M needed a hospital bed at home, which meant having to clear out her bedroom to make space. But she wanted her room to still feel like her bedroom, rather than a hospital room — somewhere cosy, comforting and filled with things that would make her smile. 🥰

We were only too happy to help and provided M with £200 in Amazon vouchers so she could choose some lovely new things to brighten up her space.

Her mum has kindly shared this photo of the goodies M picked out, and we hope they bring her lots of happiness. 💛

It's often the little things that can make such a big difference when families are going through incredibly difficult times. Being able to bring a little comfort, joy and a smile means the world to us.

💙 10 years without our Dylan

10 years.

I don’t think there will ever be words big enough to describe what it feels like to say that.

10 years since we had to say goodbye to our beautiful boy.

10 years since we held you, kissed you and somehow had to walk away without you.

You were only 13.

And that is the part that never changes.

The world has moved on. Your friends have grown up.

They are turning 23, making memories, going to the pub, building their lives and becoming the young men you should have grown up alongside.

But you are still 13.

Forever 13.

Instead, we count the years without you.

There are so many things I would give anything to do just one more time. Hear your laugh. Hear your voice calling our name. Have one more hug. Even just sit beside you and watch you doing absolutely nothing.

It’s the ordinary things we miss the most.

Losing a child changes you forever. There is a part of us that went with you that day, and no amount of time can bring it back.

But amongst all of the heartbreak, there is something that makes us incredibly proud.

Your legacy.

Dylan’s Quest began because of you. What started with a young lad wanting to help other children has grown into something that continues to help children, young adults and their families when life is at its hardest.

Every family we help.
Every grant we give.
Every memory we help create.
Every child who receives something that makes their day a little brighter.

That is you, Dylan.

Your name is still being spoken.
Your kindness is still making a difference.
Your legacy is still continuing..

I just wish you were here to see it.

I wish you could see how many people know your name and how many lives have been touched because of you.

Ten years ago, we lost our son.

But we didn’t lose the love we have for you. We didn’t lose your memory. And we certainly haven’t lost your legacy.

You will always be our Dylan.
Our beautiful boy.
Forever 13.
Forever loved.
Forever missed.
Forever in our hearts.

And through Dylan’s Quest, you will continue to make a difference in your name.

10 years without you, Dylan.

10 years of missing you.
10 years of loving you.
10 years of wishing things were different.

And we will love you for every year still to come.

🎗️September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month 🎗️

September is a particularly difficult month for Dylan’s family. 💔

On 20th September, Dylan would have celebrated his 23rd birthday. Just one week later marks 10 years since we lost him.

While September brings painful reminders of the young man we lost, it also gives us an opportunity to raise awareness and remember why Childhood Cancer Awareness Month matters so much to us.

Childhood cancer is not rare.

Every year, children and young people face a cancer diagnosis, and families are changed forever.

💛 Could you help us support families at the hospital? 💛

As the poster explains, being in hospital can mean that the everyday costs soon mount up — especially when families are spending long days and nights by their child’s side.

Through Dylan’s Quest, we regularly provide M&S, Costa and Amazon vouchers to families and patients on Piam Brown Ward and the Teenage Cancer Unit, helping with simple things like food, drinks and essentials. 💙

We are extremely grateful to the Albert Hunt Trust who have again provided us with a generous grant of £4000 to enable us to help even more children and young adults facing a life limiting illness. A grant of this magnitude goes a long way.

The monetary value of support we can provide to families is proportionate to our being a very small charity.

Nonethless, we love to bring a smile to the face of a child or young person such as 'N', age 15 who wanted something to distract him whilst facing long periods in hospital.

With over 1600 pieces, we just hope he doesn't drop it. That's a lot to pick up again!😄
