An amazing group of veterans walked through the doors on Monday morning. Not really knowing what to expect, they spent the week at the Battle Back Centre, located within the stunning grounds of Lilleshall National Sports Centre.🌳

From morning walks, inclusive activities and good conversations, the banter flowed as they took part in a Multi Activity Course (MAC).

The MAC is a residential course, fully funded by the RBL. Focussing on what you CAN do, not what you can't, attendees always take something positive from the course....as well as new friends and new memories! ✨️

We currently have spaces on our last remaining veteran courses of the year.

* 29th September
* 10th November
* 8th December

Help us find VJ Day veterans and pay tribute to their service and sacrifice ⬇️

On 15th August, we’re hosting a Service of Remembrance in partnership with the UK Government, to mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day. This will take place at the National Memorial Arboretum, and we want to find as many VJ Day veterans as we can to attend.

While for many, VE Day signalled the end of fighting in Europe, the end of the Second World War would not have been possible without the combined efforts of all those who contributed in the Far East.

Around five million served in the British Armed Forces during the war, with millions more mobilised from pre-partition India, Australia, Canada, and other Commonwealth nations, including those in Africa and the Caribbean.

Today, our newly commissioned research estimates there to be approximately 8,000 Second World War veterans still with us in England and Wales.

Veterans who contributed to the campaigns in the Far East and the Pacific, or their families on their behalf, can register to join the commemorations here: spklr.io/VJDay80-FB

🇬🇧 Congratulations to John Thornhill MBE! 🇬🇧

All of us at the Royal British Legion Republic of Ireland are absolutely delighted to share the fantastic news that John Thornhill, lately National Parade Marshal and now National Trustee, has been made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the King’s Birthday Honours. This is in recognition of his outstanding service to the Royal British Legion and to national ceremonial events.

John has played a leading role in some of the most significant moments in recent national history, including the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. His dedication, professionalism, and deep sense of duty have inspired so many and brought honour to our Legion.

This is a truly well-deserved honour for someone who has given so much, and we couldn’t be more proud.

Warmest congratulations once again, John—thoroughly well-earned, and couldn’t go to a better person!
