We had a very busy year in 2025!

The Southampton Unit of the Maritime Volunteer Service Maritime Volunteer Service was very busy in 2025. We acquired the displacement launch “The Hound” in June and our volunteers spent many hours refurbishing and preparing her for operational service. Our orange workboat “Itchen Volunteer” was particularly active during the year and removed many hazards to navigation and polluting plastics.
We flew the flags of the Admiral of the Port of Southampton and our marina partner MDL Marinas. We hosted a visit of the MVS Flagship “East Sussex 1” and hosted groups of cadets from Warsash Maritime School on board. We also took new cadets a tour of Southampton docks onboard Blue Funnel trip boat “Ocean Scene”. In all we carried out 103 patrols on
Southampton Water and the River Itchen. ABP Southampton - Port of Southampton
