Park Gate - Stray Cat
as he has been temporarily named has been doing well, slowly coming out shell be it still quite timid and nervous.
He does love a fuss head cheek and chin rubs once he has enough courage to come upto you which initially took a couple of days and way he first done it was really cute almost like sayings thank you for rescuing him and getting him off the streets as I was sat in chair in conservatory at time and he looked like he wanted to come on lap but way he put his front paws on chair before resting his head between my legs his chin on chair and stayed there for about a minute with that face saying thank you.
So far nobody has come forward to claim him or prove he is their cat didn't help him not being microchipped which is now law no collar or I'd tag either.
Someone mentioned he is similar to a cat that someone else took on but nothing since then and I sat back waiting to see if person or a possible owner if they use FB came up with an actual genuine photo of him ie in their house or arms for example as that's the only way proof of ownership and everyone genuinely takes photos of their pets or normally they do, or even if owners not on social media if person thinks it was there cat then reply bk on their behalf with evidence it is the cat or it isn't or the cat in question is still safely with owner and not who they thought it was.
Anyway he has been to vets a couple of times he's had a snap test which is basically a basic blood test and testing to make sure he has not got FIV.
He scar on nose which has nearly healed and couple of small wounds on front left leg again from fighting when on streets have been checked and been fleas wormed and microchipped under & which is run by the legendary very Popular who has also kindly off her own back paid all the bet bill's so massive thank you to her.
He went again to vets yesterday morning to be castrated and dropped off by myself before 1 of Penny's staff picking him up afterwards and taking him into their care as a space became available with a fosterer.
He will be held there for 14 days minimum starting as of today which is on top of the 7 days I had him for.
So if you are the owners and have photographic evidence please direct all correspondence to Penny Parker and also any potential people who may want to adopt him if no owner comes forward again please make yourself known to Penny Parker why you think you would be a suitable forever home for him and in due course she will get back to short listed applications home checks etc will be required.
Criteria from my experience with him is he would need to be an only pet in a more quiet household young children is a no due to his nervousness and panics at slight movement ie you fussing him and you get up out of chair he will run off and hide.
He doesn't like being picked up in general like with most cats but he is a big boy 5.60kg and strong so if he was to struggle to break free out arms could easily injure a child in panicking but may let you hold him for a minute or 2 tops.
Once he gets comfortable and relaxed in his surroundings he will sprawl out on a chair or cushion or in the cat tree but again if he hears you coming into the room he is in he will tend to panic and run and hide.
So the fosterer will be working with him and getting him more confident maybe it's due to past something may have happened or the way he treated who knows but I'm sure in time he will become a lot more confident and certainly will make a very loving cat to someone and their family.
We are approaching the season to be jolly and we all heard the saying or seen the stickers in some cars dogs are for Life not just for Christmas same applies to cats and all pets they are part of family, if your intending on getting a pet make sure it's for life, not case of briefly and then passing them off to and throw many famous excuses are likes are mysteriously people all sudden suffer from an allergy having them or due to unforeseen circumstances ie can't afford them or have no time for them etc.
Rescues are overflowing with cats dogs and other animals that have all been given up or abandoned at no fault of their own please make sure you get a pet from an official rescue I know some don't make it easy about adopting a pet, too fussy and too much criteria to qualify but it's better than putting money in the hands on breeder's who are breeding more animals we don't need just to line their pockets with quick easy money abit like a rescue group locally with a well known fraudulent director and always on the beg for money on the group keep clear.
Also play your part in helping out the genuine rescue charities with food blankets cushions and toys for animals they are very grateful and rely on people's generosity in donating to be able to keep running and saving more animals and getting them into forever homes.
I do miss spot already It was a pleasure looking after him and getting him off streets in first place, but having 3 female cats here who certainly would not have got along with him it's only fair he went to Penny and her rescue team.
His criteria may change slightly once they get to see the real him fully out of his shell and sure they will update on their group when ready.
I'll leave you with some photos of his time here and all correspondence of a potential genuine owner coming forward with photographic evidence or potential new owner wanting to adopt him when he is ready after 14 days so please direct your enquiries to Penny Parker @ Portsmouth Cat's Lost Found & Rehomed.
Please share this post around Park Gate, Swanwick, Lock's Heath, Warsash, Whiteley, Titchfield, Sarisbury Green, Burridge, Curbridge, bursledon, Segensworth.
