Social Sunday Run Club SSRC™ is Southampton’s community-focused social run club. Every Sunday, 8:30AM outside BASEMENT™ Studio and SO•CO• heading out along the shore for 5KM.

We are a social run club based in Southampton, UK. Every Sunday at 8:30AM, we meet at Southampton Common for a relaxed, community-focused 5km run. There’s no pressure, no paces, just good vibes, conversation, and a consistent 6:45/km - 7:15/km pace led by our pacers. All

running abilities are welcome. Each run finishes with coffee at Maurie’s, our local partner, where the social side of the club really comes alive. Expect occasional merch drops, creative campaigns, and a growing crew who show up for more than just the run.

We can finally share the SSRC™ rebrand. To celebrate turning 2, we wanted to do something special, something that aligned with the community values and something the community could get behind. Over 2 years ago, Danny and Nathan were inspired by a certain illustrator during the inception of this community and ‘Sunny’ was created. Hand drawn by Danny, the ‘Sunny’ character has been loved by many and somehow will live on forever inked on skin 🤯

Danny and Nathan thought, to celebrate our birthday, wouldn’t it be great to give back to the illustrator who inspired our vision, .bern an artist who has inspired so many over the years.

We have worked so hard to build this community alongside all of you, and we decided to take the small amount of money our community space has made and commission .bern to recreate ‘Sunny’, along with some variations.

The most important variation has to be ‘Sporty Sunny’ to mark the relaunch of our Sporty community run club, for those ready to expand their running ability together.

Thank you Jade for bringing Sunny to life in the way he always should have been.

COMMUNITY MEMBER OF THE MONTH FOR MAY

Supporting/celebrating each other is a big part of this community.

For May, the crown goes to Nikhil .mistry

This crown is long overdue. It feels like Nikhil has been part of the community forever, and after digging through old photos, I found memories dating back to January ’25. From the very beginning, he has been a constant presence and an important part of what makes this community so special.

Not only has Nikhil stuck around, he has well and truly got involved. This man has supported so many, helped with pacing runs, helped runners complete runs. He has held a speaker countless times, he has even helped look after Ada while we support this community. Nikhil steps up everytime to help, nurture is in his nature, a genuinely kind soul who I want to give the biggest thanks to on behalf of us all.

You are an incredible role model as a runner and as a dad. We are grateful to have you as a part of this community.

We are back to our usual schedule this week. 8:30AM Sunday morning and yes, all you need to do is show up. We welcome everyone. SSRC™ is designed to accommodate runners of all abilities to the best of its ability. No getting lost and no one is forgotten. We pride ourselves on curating a community that welcomes everyone no matter what box society might have made you feel you’re in. Come along, make friends, enjoy a gentle run and sip some good coffee.

Last weekend was R100, we have now completed 100 runs, 500KM in distance. Distance spent, chatting, laughing and making friends.

This weekend there will be NO SSRC™ we are running the with but will return to our usual social 5KM next week.

Our next milestone is R125 🤯
