Well, it’s been a while!

We’ve been working quietly behind the scenes, arranging health checks, life changing surgeries, and lots of cuddles for our little critters.

We’re going to work on our social media skills (sorry!) and hopefully provide many more second chances to these lovely babies!

Not our usual post but we have teamed up with to offer a £10 gift card to one lucky person!

Rules:
Any donations to Respite Rats between now (October 31st) and December 1st will be entered into a raffle to win a £10 gift card

Any halloween bookings (any halloween flash, halloween designs or generally anything spooky!) with will also be entered into the raffle.

The raffle will be drawn December 2nd and the winner will be announced that day,
The gift card can either be posted (a physical gift card) or an online voucher.

What a sunny Saturday evening! ☀️
We’ve been having a boggle filled week courtesy of our boys, particularly No-Name who loves to boggle and brux with his brothers!

Although our girls are giving them a run for their money, with our OR (Original Rat 🙈) Tooth being a motherly figure to our new arrivals and showing them how boggles are better as a mischief!

Just a random post on a drab Tuesday from us here at respite rats!

These (hefty) handsome boys have been ever so lovingly named ‘the rotunds’ by us due to their larger than life personalities (and tummies) with the being the biggest babies we currently house!

What started off as a mischief of three has over time became a group of 6 after we took in their new brothers, they all get on super well and we’re so proud of all of them (even if they do have a few arguments sometimes)

Two posts in one day, are we feeling okay?!

Respite Rats is entirely volunteer owned, meaning there are two of us to attend to our animals needs 24/7.
Vet bills, feeding, housing, boredom busters- pets are not cheap companions!

We take on any animal brought our way, regardless of age, health, weight, background etc. However, this does mean that our costs are sky high when providing for 40+ animals at any one time.

We understand the reluctance of donating, the worry or caution about what that money will be used for- we’ve provided a solution!

We’ve now set up an Amazon Registry, so you can take a look through [we’ll update it regularly!] and choose what exactly the rats will receive, whether it be feeding, housing, health or play. Any purchases from the registry will gain you an exclusive Respite Rats postcard, some stickers and one of the rats will give you a little paw print thank you!

We’ve been quiet over at Respite Rats, between the unfortunate loss of our very first rescue rats, to focusing on intros- we’ve lacked on our social media! But we’re back to it so not to worry.

These gorgeous boys Jezyck, Poppy and No-Name, were taken in presenting with possible URI’s. With some medication and lots of treats and love, they’ve made leaps and bounds and have really made lasting bonds with our existing resident rats!

That being said, love is in the air! Our third set of rescues were three ex-laboratory rats who needed a lot of work, and they showed aggression to not only each other but any other rat, regardless of how many intros and precautions were in place. However, Jezyck, Poppy and No-Name have slipped into the mischief seamlessly, softening the hearts of our lab rescues and frankly, making the dynamic so much better- with not even a squabble in sight!

Drake and Shady came to us when their previous owners’ personal circumstances changed. The boys have since been integrated into the mischief of 14 we have here, and they have absolutely flourished in their new environment! The boys have no problem being cheeky and causing chaos, so they fit right in at Respite Rats!
