Northam Local Conversation

They have set up a local steering group and sub groups to look at local issues and to find solutions to the issues raised within the community. Lots of people in Northam have stated that there was nothing to do in the area. As a result, they came up with ideas and helped develop these ideas into projects. For example, they now offer many new activities including Northam Breakfast Club, Swimming for Ladies, Northam Sewing Club and much more! If local people come forward and state they want to do something that benefits Northam locals, Northam Local Conversation/Northam Steering Group will work with them to make it happen. So feel free to reach out if you have any ideas!

How do you know what local people want?

With the support of WICT staff, they conduct surveys, knock on doors, and speak to people out and about in the community as well as to projects we have funded. The community have told them that their 3 priority areas for Northam are:

1. More activities available in the area

2. Improvement to the parade of shops

3. Youth activities

How can you get involved?

We are with the locals at the Breakfast Club; come along and chat to us. It runs on Mondays at Northam Community Centre, 9-10am. You will meet people who live in the area. Steering Committee meets once a month locally and also have a number of sub groups looking at different things. We go round knocking on doors, speak to us.
