Spanning around 20 acres, Miller's Pond is one of Southampton's largest and most diverse Local Nature Reserves. Since 1988 Sholing Valleys Study Centre has been working as a registered charity to preserve Miller's Pond and its surrounding areas, whilst educating the pu
blic about this unique environment and the wildlife found here. It lies 1.9km from the shores of Southampton Water at Weston Point with which it is connected by over 3 and a half kilometres of continuous valley habitat, the Shoreburs Greenway. Station Road marks the northern edge of the Miller's Pond site and the southern edge is formed by the railway and Portsmouth Road. The valley divides at Miller's Pond and the two branches continue to the north and north-east, to Bursledon Road at Sholing Common and continues up Shoreburs Greenway to Weston Common respectively. The site is owned by Southampton City Council, but managed by Volunteers.
