🌿☕ TAKE A SEAT & SAY HELLO! ☕🌿

Our outdoor space is all set and ready for you!

Tables, chairs and parasol are now up – perfect for enjoying a bite to eat, a treat, a brew, a chat and some fresh air.

And don’t worry about the weather…our parasol will keep you covered, even if there’s a little summer drizzle. ☔

As we get ready for Southampton Mental Health Friendly Day on July 8, our wonderful volunteer Lenka, also a Communicare in Southampton Trustee, has been testing everything out to make sure it’s just right. ✅

We’re preparing for the Power of Hello part of the Day, which is all about encouraging people to connect with someone new in a safe, welcoming space.

At CommuniBakes, we’re proud to offer just that.

💬 So, pull up a chair, gather under the umbrella and start a conversation. Because even when the rain comes, connection doesn’t have to stop.

Come and join us – we’d love to say hello! Southampton Mental Health Network

💙 Loneliness Awareness Week is here. 💙

Today marks the launch of Marmalade Trust’s Loneliness Awareness Week – running until June 21. www.lonelinessawarenessweek.org

This important week encourages us all to take simple steps to build connections and support one another 🤝

We’re proud to play our part in Southampton through our befriending services, clubs and community activities – helping to tackle loneliness, often described as society’s ‘silent killer’, and boost social connectedness.

✨ Together, we can make a difference.

If you missed this last month, Academic Gillian Sandstrom’s new book, ‘Once Upon a Stranger: The Science of How ‘Small’ Talk Can Add Up To a Big Life’, is a warm, evidence based celebration of everyday connection.

Drawing on academic research and personal stories, Gillian shares her journey from a shy child to an enthusiastic ‘stranger talker’. She starts by acknowledging something many of us feel that talking to strangers can be uncomfortable or scary and it’s not just you!

The heart of the book explores why reaching out is worth it.

It even ends with practical, achievable tips including advice from Gillian’s world class stranger talker dad to help us take small, confidence building steps.

💙 This book is all about connection – something that matters deeply for our mental wellbeing. www.gilliansandstrom.com

🏇✨ AN AFTERNOON OUT AT THE RACES! ✨🏇

Some of our service users and volunteers recently enjoyed a fantastic afternoon at Salisbury Racecourse as part of our ongoing collaboration with Racing Together, supported by Great British Racing and SCiA Group. Great British Racing also helped fund our minibus and SCiA kindly let us use one of theirs on the day.

Days like these are so much more than just a fun outing - they play a vital role in reducing isolation, building connections and boosting wellbeing for those in our community who need it 💙

We’re proud to partner with like-minded organisations to create opportunities that bring people together, support mental and emotional health, and help everyone feel part of something special.
