These are exciting and challenging times for Southampton, and Southampton Cultural Development Trust, of which Culture Southampton is the outward facing facet, is a key driver in the citys plans for regeneration through transformational cultural initiatives. These will bring inspiration, opportunity and enjoyment for Southampton's residents and visitors, and will establish the city as a major cult
ural destination. The Trust was originally founded to support the development of the Cultural Quarter, through fundraising and advocacy. It has helped raise funds to complete Studio 144 and the SeaCity Museum by actively developing support from grant-making organisations individuals, business, and educational institutions. Since 2015 with the appointment of it's first Director, James Gough the Trust has taken on the role of influencer and leading delivery of the long term strategic development of culture for the city and it's surrounding districts. Encompassing art and heritage, sport and celebration the Trust brings together organisations, venues, practitioners and businesses to and present a a coherent and compelling cultural narrative for Southampton.
