This session provides new councillors, and those who would like a refresher, with an introduction to the key responsibilities of serving on a parish or town council.

The course will cover important areas including the role of councillors, meetings and procedures, the legal and regulatory framework, council services and assets, community engagement, local council powers and duties, planning, code of conduct and key terminology.

It is designed to support councillors in developing a clear understanding of their role and responsibilities within local government.

Here in the UK the non political Electoral Commission sets the rules for all elections. It also controls funding and registration rules and boundary changes.
