Crews are tackling a fire affecting industrial units near St Mary's football stadium.

People in the area are advised to keep windows and doors closed

Some roads local to the incident are closed and people are advised to avoid the area to allow movements of emergency vehicles.

📢Itchen Bridge Maintenance Project: Traffic Management 📢

This summer, we are undertaking what will be the most significant programme of maintenance works to the Itchen Bridge 🌉 crossing since it first opened.

In order to safely carry out the works, the Itchen Bridge will be 🚧closed to motor vehicles 🛵🚗 🚛 🚐 in the summer for approximately 8 weeks. 📅Dates will be announced once the plans are confirmed.

➡ Diversions for local drivers and buses will be confirmed in due course. People coming into the city centre from further afield will be encouraged to continue on the M27 to J5 or J3, or to use alternative methods of travel.

The Itchen Bridge will remain open to 🚶‍♀️👨‍🦽pedestrians and 🚴‍♀️cyclists for the duration of the works, but it will be necessary to follow signed diversions around active work areas.

🛳 In the waterfront area, traffic may be busier than normal across the weekend as Southampton welcomes four cruise ships to the city on Friday, with two arriving on Saturday and four on Sunday.

⚠☔ A yellow warning for rainfall is in place on Friday from Storm Babet which could lead to difficult driving conditions and there is a small chance of localised flooding.
