DICTIONARIES4LIFE

As part of a long-running literacy project organised by Rotary GB&I (Great Britain and Ireland), in collaboration with Usborne Books, and the UNESCO literacy programme, we have been distributing illustrated dictionaries again this year to local primary school children.

A total of 268 dictionaries have been delivered and handed out to year 4 pupils at 7 local primary and junior schools - Marchwood Junior, Cadland Primary, Wildground Junior, Hythe Primary, Waterside Primary and Beaulieu Primary. We also delivered 24 dictionaries to Orchard Junior School.

Despite modern technology and the Internet, the children love getting a dictionary, which is theirs to keep.

There's still time to get your shoebox and fill it for disadvantaged and displaced children in eastern Europe. If you would like a box and a leaflet explaining what items you can put in it, please contact us via Facebook or by emailing [email protected]

All part of the Wessex Rotary Shoebox Scheme.

Yesterday 3 of our members joined staff from Tesco in Dibden for a community litter pick.
They worked around the store and surrounding area of Applemore.
Well done everyone 👏
