✨ What a night! ✨

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our 21st Smile4Wessex Gala Dinner on Saturday, at the Botleigh Grange Hotel. It was a fantastic evening, bringing together so many wonderful people for a cause that means so much to us.

From our guests and sponsors to everyone who bought raffle tickets, bid in the auction or helped behind the scenes, we couldn’t do it without you. Your generosity and support mean so much and will help us continue supporting the Wessex Neurological Centre and the incredible work they do for patients and their families.

A special thank you to Professor Diederik Bulters for sharing his insight into the work of the Centre and helping us look towards what we might be able to achieve together in the future.

With special thanks also to Rick and Stacey from Helyers of Hampshire, for so generously sponsoring our 2026 Smile4Rich Fundraiser of the Year Award, which this year was awarded to the very deserving Helen Webster, for completing her Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge in May - as a thank you to the team who changed her life 20 years ago.

It was of course a privilege to share the stories and celebrate ALL our Fundraiser of the Year nominees - these were a powerful reminder that the impact of the Centre’s care can last a lifetime. The fact that they are still giving back so many years after their own treatment is something truly special.

We are delighted to announce that Emily Dunlop has been selected for our one charity spot at the 2027 TCS London Marathon in April.

We received a record number of applications this year and whilst we would love to offer this opportunity to everyone who applied, on reading Emily's application, we feel confident that she is the perfect candidate to represent Smile4wessex next year, and we are thrilled that she has accepted the place.

Now it's over to you Emily to do all the hard work over the next few months as you train for his iconic race.

We're teaming up once again with Headway Southampton for another joint fundraising Quiz & Curry Night at The Concorde Club

The Quiz will take place on Tuesday 27th October 2026 at 7.30pm.

Maximum 6 per team / Over 18's only

Members £12 / Non members £15

Ticket price includes the Quiz and Curry served during the interval.

We're excited to announce that Smile4Wessex have secured 1 charity place for the TCS London Marathon on Saturday 25 April 2027!

This is your chance to take on one of the world's most iconic marathons whilst raising vital funds to support the Wessex Neurological Centre in Southampton.

We'd like to say a huge thank you to Parker Meadows Care Home in Fareham, who have recently undertaken fundraising events for Smile4Wessex and the Wessex Neurological Centre, raising over £600!

Their first fundraising event was a sponsored walk, with four residents, aged 76 - 91, completing the sponsored walk along the seafront of Southsea, enjoying the recent sunshine.

This was followed in June by a Summer Fete at Parker Meadows Care Home with a raffle, BBQ, live entertainment and stalls.

The staff and residents at Parker Meadows chose to support Smile4Wessex, after their team member and activities lead, Zoe recently underwent two brain surgeries at the Wessex Neurological Centre for an aneurysm, but they have also had links to the unit for stroke, tumours and cognitive issues. Luisa from Parker Meadows told us "All in all, The Wessex Neurological Centre is close to all of us here".

Today is the 24th anniversary of Richard Bowler's sudden and sad passing. What has been achieved since in his memory is quite incredible, and we're sure he would be proud 🤗

So please just take a moment today to remember this inspirational young man ... spare a thought for his family and always Smile 4 Rich 🙂
