Fr. Jowel reminds us that we should not force ourselves to stay where we are no longer wanted, respected, or appreciated. There are times when walking away is not giving upโit is choosing peace and protecting the dignity God has given us.
Sometimes we stay because we are afraid of losing people, memories, or relationships. But if someone clearly does not want us in their life, forcing ourselves to remain may only bring more pain. Love, friendship, and respect should never have to be begged for.
Walking away does not mean carrying anger in your heart. We can still forgive, pray for them, and wish them well. There are relationships we need to release so that God can lead us toward healthier and more peaceful places.
So if people do not like you and no longer value your presence, do not force yourself to stay. Let go with grace, keep your heart clean, and trust God with what comes next. Sometimes leaving is the beginning of the peace you have been praying for.
