TODAY IS INTERNATIONAL CAT DAY.
(Or alternatively World Cat Day)

Created by the IFAW nearly 25 years ago to promote and improve better welfare for cats as well as raising awareness of the number of cats all over the world suffering from cruelty, over breeding and neglect that desperately need help and support.

At Second Chance everyday is Cat Day so please keep on following us, sharing us, helping us and supporting us. We really need you.

However we also like to celebrate the joy our wonderful feline friends bring to all our lives so can we have your favourite photos of your cats enjoying their special day.

Please complete our online enquiry form if you are interested in giving a home to a rescue cat or kitten. All our cats are vaccinated, microchipped and spade/neutered ( if at age/weight required). So please consider us and contact us now!

CAN YOU HELP ?

We are looking for experienced foster homes for some of our lovely dogs.

Do you have a stable dog already in your home to help bring some of our dogs out of their shell?

Do you have time to help our dogs recover after surgeries?

We are experiencing a high volume of dogs coming in with extensive medical conditions that are needing surgery, we are looking for foster homes to be able to help our dogs recover after surgery and foster homes for dogs who need confidence building and support.

If you have a loving home, suitable for dogs that are in need of love and patience, or have another stable dog already in your home, please contact us.

A message from our chairman:

He was great man who made a lot of horses more understood and less ill treated. "Monty Roberts, the iconic and respected horse behaviorist has passed on. In his time he achieved a better understanding for horses and managed to show people that force is not the way to treat horses, that they are sensitive and respond to empathetic interaction. If there is anything after this life and horses are there he'll be welcomed by herds of equines.

It is legal in the UK to hit a cat when driving and not need to stop or report collisions, leaving them scared, alone, and in pain. Cats are important, loved, valued family members for many and we believe the law should reflect this.

As you know, the law currently requires drivers to report collisions with dogs, but not cats. This gap leaves thousands of families without closure and prevents cats receiving the help they need. Their petition calls for equal protection for cats — a simple, humane change that reflects how deeply they matter to the public.
