⭐️ Beatrice didn’t make the original shortlist for our partner FESODEV’s Tadala vocational training project in Malawi, due to the long waiting list. But she wasn’t ready to give up.
A mother of four, Beatrice was earning a living by washing clothes, carrying water and doing manual work on other people’s farms and gardens. The hours were long, the pay was low, and providing for her family was a constant struggle.
So, even when she wasn’t offered a place on the project, she kept showing up. She opened and cleaned the training hall, prepared chairs for inductions and helped out at tailoring shops, hoping that a place might become available.
Two weeks later, it did. And Beatrice was ready.
Since joining the tailoring and fashion design training, she’s worked incredibly hard, showing up on time, staying committed and even learning from other trainers whenever her own trainer was unavailable.
Now, she’s making clothes for herself, her children and people in her community. She’s also designing and making outfits for paying customers.
As Beatrice puts it, “Finding money is no longer a challenge now.” She’s looking ahead to a brighter future for her family.
Beatrice’s story is a reminder of what can happen when determination meets the opportunity to learn a skill and build an income.
