The Crossings We are a local charity supporting people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness by means of drop-ins & outreach work.

An initiative of the Waterside Churches Together & widely supported across the Waterside area of the New Forest. Since February 2019 we have run weekly drop-in sessions offering a safe place to come for a hot drink and talk or just hang out in a non-judgemental environment welcoming all. Also local outreach work supporting those unable to get to the drop-ins. We are able to help with Universal Credit applications & homeless related benefits, signposting to other agencies, including referrals to the Waterside Foodbank. We provide free access to laptops, Wi-Fi, phone charging, somewhere to wash, toiletries, snacks & drinks, clothing, and sleeping bags (as resources allow). A part-time Project Leader is employed to facilitate the Drop-Ins and outreach with a team of trained volunteers.

Tomorrow marks an important day as we get to highlight housing and homeless issues. Why not come down to Hythe library find out more about us at our display. Our "build your own house" fun is back this year where you can then post a photo of your creation here 😀.

We will be open around the corner, as we are every Sat 10-1, at Cornerstone church to listen and assist people with the housing challenge they are going through.

Thank you to those who support us and enable us to do what we do to offer help against homelessness.

We're going tomorrow to join NFDC's Homelessness Forum to promote our initiative that sits alongside our drop-ins. A great chance to connect with the team that refer to us and explore how we might best refine the service for people they place into housing. Exciting times!

We have a huge debt of gratitude to Jan Hayter as one who, together with other key folks, had a big part to play in the founding of The Crossings. Back when we began as the Waterside Night Shelter around 2017.
At the celebration of her life at St Andrew's last Friday it was clear her faith and passion for the community had impacted so many of us. Our thoughts and prayers are with Colin and the family.
Thank you Jan!
