From receiving to giving—The Power of Community.
The volunteers, the post-COVID legacy, and the collective strength of women.

"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much."
As we celebrate , I want to shine a light on the heartbeat of the Feeding Community Program CIC.

Our journey began just after COVID—a time of immense struggle, hunger, and isolation in Southampton. Since then, so many incredible women have stepped up. From those who joined us when the world stood still, to the new faces who carry the torch today while balancing their own careers—your dedication is the reason we can tackle poverty and isolation every single Friday.

Without the women of this community, our vision of a hunger-free, connected Southampton wouldn't be possible. You aren't just giving out food; you are providing skills, social connection, and hope

To the women who have transitioned from service users to community leaders: You are the true innovators. You prove that when we support one another, we don't just survive—we thrive.

Today, I celebrate every hand that has packed a bag, every smile shared over a food parcel, and every woman who refused to let her neighbor go hungry 🍲❤️
💪🏾To every volunteer who has ever walked through our doors: I celebrate you. You are the innovators and the caretakers of our future. 🍲❤️

Hello February 💛

It’s been a rainy few days, and we know this kind of weather can sometimes affect our mood and energy. As we step into a new month, we want to gently remind everyone that you don’t have to stay in isolation— support, connection and warmth are still here for you.

After being closed in January due to a family bereavement, Feed The Community Program CIC is reopening this Friday and we’re really looking forward to welcoming you back.

Everyone is welcome.
And as always, no one should go hungry in silence.

🎄✨ Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from Feed the Community Program CIC ✨🎄

As we reflect on this festive season, we want to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported Feed the Community Program CIC throughout the year.

This Christmas was truly special for us. We hosted a joyful community Christmas party and continued our weekly Friday food support, ensuring people were fed, supported, and reminded that they are not alone.

A very special thank you to Tesco our longest and highest supporter. Your continued generosity makes a real difference week after week.
We also want to give a big shout-out to Vicky, Tesco’s Charity Manager, who went above and beyond to secure special Christmas donations for our community. Thanks to her support, families and young people received gifts including clothing, chocolates, stationery, and thoughtful items that brought genuine smiles and joy.

What was especially moving was seeing elderly ladies attend our Christmas party and leave with gifts they could pass on to their grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Even when finances are tight, being able to give brings dignity, pride, and happiness and that is exactly what community is about.

Throughout December, we continued to see new people walk through our doors, including young people and families in urgent need. Some were waiting for payments to come through; others simply needed emergency support. At Feed the Community, we operate self-referral and support at the point of need, because no one should go hungry or struggle in silence.
We also saw community support officers come in and enquire how to recommend our services for the clients they support.

We are also deeply encouraged by the number of young people stepping forward to volunteer, wanting to give back after seeing the impact of this work. That spirit gives us hope for the future.

🚐 Volunteer Call-Out

As our work continues to grow, we are currently looking for volunteers with a driving licence who are:

* Physically able to lift food donations
* Available for Thursday evening collections and Friday morning collections.

If this is you or someone you know, please get in touch , your support would make a huge difference.

📅 January Closure Notice

We would also like to let our community know that the food bank will be closed in January. This is due to a family bereavement, as our CEO will be away attending funeral arrangements.
We plan to reopen in February 6th and we look forward to welcoming everyone back then.

💛 A Message from Our CEO

Victoria Ugwoeme says "This work has always been about people about dignity, compassion, and showing up when it matters most. Even in challenging moments, seeing lives impacted, people fed, and communities strengthened reminds me why this work is so important. Thank you for standing with us, believing in us, and being part of this journey. Together, we are building a community, something powerful.
With great pride and joy here we say tank you to our amazing volunteers, supporters, donors, partners, and community members for walking this journey with us.
We wish you all a peaceful New Year, and we look forward to strengthening our impact together in 2026

💚 *Feed the Community. Nourish dignity. Strengthen community.* 💚

🌟 A BIG SHOUT-OUT TO OUR AMAZING VOLUNTEERS! 🌟

Last night’s food bank collection is complete and it wouldn’t be possible without our incredible volunteers who show up, rain or shine, cold winter to collect, sort and prepare food for our community.
Thank you for your heart, your time and your dedication. You are the backbone of this work. 💛
Special thank you to Alan Springett one of our amazing volunteers whose being with us for over 3yrs now whose taking a break to loo after his health.
Your constancy, courage and companion is highly commendable.
We will miss you.
This is not good bye, but a get well soon.

🍎🥕 Today’s £2.50 Food Parcel + A Story of Determination

Today’s food parcel was packed with good, nutritious items to support our community:

🥚 4 crates of eggs
🍌 Bunch of bananas
🌭 2 packs of cocktail sausages
🍓 Fresh raspberries
🥕 Carrots
🥬 Mixed vegetables
🍟 Packet of chips

We also had several new users today — some from right here in Southampton, and another family who travelled all the way from Eastleigh
One resident shared that she used the last money she had to pay her bus fare because she knew she would receive support from Feed The Community Program CIC*

Her determination deeply moved us.
No one should ever have to choose between transport and food and this is exactly why we continue this work every single week.

To everyone who visits, donates, volunteers, or spreads the word: thank you
Together, we are feeding the people and strengthening our community. 💛

🌟 A Beautiful Moment of Kindness Today 🌟

Just before we closed this afternoon, two students walked into our food bank with big smiles and even bigger hearts. They’d come to the centre for some training, months ago, noticed our food bank running and decided they wanted to help.

And help they did. 💚

They returned with bags filled with thoughtful donations:
🛒 Food items
🧼 Toiletries
🐶 Even dog food
🍫 Snacks, tins, chocolates & non-perishables

What touched us the most was their awareness and empathy. These young people didn’t just give, they thought carefully about what different people might need. It shows that the next generation truly understands community, compassion, and the everyday challenges many face.

Moments like this remind us why we do what we do.

For nearly five years Feed The Community Program CIC has been here supporting families, individuals, and now students too. Over the years, we’ve been blessed by the support of Volunteers, businesses, local organisations, neighbours, and now young people stepping forward to make a difference.

This is how a community grows.
This is how hope spreads.

Thank you to these amazing students, and thank you to everyone who continues to walk alongside us. 💛
Your kindness keeps this work alive.
