We have had a request for any cctv or dashcam footage from around 7:30 am on Monday 15th June.

A small motorbike or moped with L plates was in a collision with a Mercedes S class at the Y junction in Holly Hill where the give way markings are outside number 11. The Mercedes was heading around the bend towards Bassett Avenue. The motorcycle was heading in to Holly Hill from Bassett Avenue. A child in the car received minor injuries. The rider of the motorcycle failed to stop and rode down the hill past number 13. Potentially leaving Holly Hill via the pedestrian route to the sports centre.

If you saw anything or have a recording please let us know by replying to this post and we will put you in touch with the Mercedes driver who would like to exchange insurance details with the rider of the motorcycle.

We are experiencing a surge in street parking in Holly Hill by what we believe to be non-residents. This is causing difficulties for goods and service vehicles and leads to having to take turns to enter or exit the road. I have contacted our local councillor Sam Chapman about this.

As previously advised Southampton City Council previously decided not to proceed with a Resident’s Parking Scheme for Holly Hill and the other roads on the west side of Bassett Avenue.

Sam advises that a new consultation on a Resident’s Parking Scheme was being planned for all of these roads as well as Holly Hill but this was delayed by the local elections. Now that this is out of the way and Sam has been reelected he has undertaken to chase this up for us with the relevant officers.

When I find out more I will of course post an update on Facebook. The wheels of bureaucracy turn very slowly through, so it may take a while.

The person who likes to attempt to open car doors was sighted at 4:36 am on the morning of Saturday 11th April at 91 HH. It would be useful to check your cars and outbuildings.and see if any intruders have been detected on cctv or doorbell cameras. As usual please report any thefts to the Police online or on 101 and let your neighbours know.

In more positive news SCC have issued a reminder that discounts are available for people who sign up for Garden Waste collections before 30th April. This is a fortnightly service that takes away leaves and clippings to make compost. It is better for the environment and more popular with fellow residents than having bonfires.

👉 Your bin collections.

Over the bank holiday weekend (Good Friday and Easter Monday), collections will take place as normal. No changes, no delays, just business as usual.

Please remember to:

✔️ Put your bins out as normal
✔️ Not attempt to recycle KitKat wrappers if you suddenly “find” 12 tonnes of them
✔️ Take a break (sorry) and enjoy the long weekend

Enjoy the bank holiday weekend, Southampton 🐣
