Teams of collectors can be found at West Quay (Floor 2 by the lifts) and the Marlands Centres (opposite the information desk) daily from now til Sat 8 Nov. Come and purchase your Poppy items - we have all sorts of merchandise available there and in the Sainsbury's Portswood. ASDA Southampton have given permission for us to set up instore after Halloween so look for us from 1 Nov there too!

Come along to this event this coming Sat. We've got the sharing of the back story leading up to VJ Day as well as the victory at Kohima and the tribulations of the Forgotten Army delivered by Vic Thorn, Veteran and Regimental Secretary of the Parachute Regimental Association. Arrive no later than 10.30 at the Cenotaph in order to welcome the parade of veterans, serving personnel and cadets led by St Andrews Pipes & Drum Band.

After the ceremonial element ends around 11.15 the activities continue at the Bandstand in Palmerston Park where the Wessex District Sea Cadet band will lead the celebrations. Bring your own picnic (no BBQs please), sit on a picnic blanket and enjoy the music. WWII vehicles and pop-up stands will be on display so do come along and join in the fun.

We are set up in West Quay today and tomorrow selling VE80 metal pins and promoting the VE80 Concert on in Southampton Guildhall on Sunday evening. Tickets are still available on Ticketmaster so come along and join in the celebrations to mark 80 years since the end of WWII in Europe

And we're off.... The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal launched today. Come and see the Southampton City Centre Team in West Quay Level 3 and in the Marlands Centre and buy your poppies. Other volunteers can be found selling in Sainsbury Portswood from Mon 28 Oct and in Asda Western Esplanade (opp Marlands) from Fri 1 Nov.

Once the D-Day commemorations end thoughts will turn to Poppy Appeal planning.....if you'd like to join the team of Poppy Appeal Organisers in South Hampshire & the IoW please message me. Or if you could offer a few hours in Nov to join the team of volunteers in Southampton City Centre I will welcome you to the team. There are all types of jobs you could help out with from admin and delivering poppies to collecting at our static locations
