Volunteers Week!

Local Scouting runs entirely by volunteers. ⚜️

So we are celebrating our amazing volunteers across the group, from our leaders and young leaders, to our skills instructors, trustees, maintenance teams and parent helpers. 🤩

We are extremely grateful that they all give up their time to support our young people and give them opportunities and experiences that can last a lifetime.

THANK YOU!!! 🙏🏻

We are always on the look out for more help though.
Maybe you have knowledge on boat or building repairs, engine maintenance, fundraising or just want to join in the fun on our adventures.
Please do get in touch. 🫵
With young people aged between 4 and 18, plus our own buildings and a large fleet of kayaks, powerboats, dinghies and gigs - there is sure to be a role to suit you.

There is no commitment or minimum hours expected - as they say, every little helps.

Our district also has many volunteering opportunities too, from events teams, campsite teams, roverang, canoe club and the mountaineering team. Check out their poster.

THANK YOU to Hamble Lifeboat for hosting our Cubs this week.

They had lots of fun learning about the kit and boat, as well as brushing up on their water safety.

We’ve been keeping busy over the spring, but have been a bit rubbish at taking pictures of our adventures.

We’ve had obstacle courses, hikes, wide games, lots of fires, first aid, pioneering, plenty of nautical skills refreshers and boating prep and lots more besides.

Our Explorers returned to the water in April, followed shortly after by the Scouts.

Scouts had a camp out and camp skills weekend - fair play to them, as the spring evenings have still been pretty chilly.

Beavers have been to Rock Up, had a visit from a Guide Dog and competed in the District Archery Competition.

Squirrels have been celebrating Easter and St Patrick’s Day, as well as having lots of fun at the Itchen Squirrels Fun Day.

And Cubs have been focusing on their space badge and getting outside to make the most of the warmer weather.

We’ve also begun to slowly upgrade our aging fleet, with the purchase of some more modern dinghies, including an RS Vision, which will help us to continue training our newer sailors. We are looking forward to seeing our new craft being well used over the coming months.
