The Oakwood Journey
A Year 6 Leavers' Poem
Through Oakwood's gates we first arrived,
A little unsure, a little shy.
With backpacks big and dreams so small,
Not knowing what we'd learn at all.
Years have passed and now we stand,
Ready to step into new lands.
From phonics sounds to maths that grew,
Each lesson helped us make it through.
We've made great friends along the way,
Shared laughter every single day.
In classrooms, halls and playground too,
We've built memories strong and true.
We've faced challenges, learned to try,
Picked ourselves up and aimed high.
We've shown kindness, courage and care,
Always knowing someone was there.
To every teacher who helped us grow,
Who believed in us more than we know,
Thank you for the time you gave,
For helping us be strong and brave.
Though we'll leave Oakwood and move ahead,
The values you've taught stay with us instead.
Respect, determination, friendship and pride,
Will travel with us, side by side.
The future waits beyond these doors,
With new adventures to explore.
But a piece of Oakwood we'll always keep,
In hearts where treasured memories sleep.
So here's to the journey, the fun and the cheers,
The friendships and laughter throughout all the years.
We'll spread our wings and reach for the sky,
Thank you, Oakwood, it's not goodbye.
For wherever life may lead us to,
A part of our story will always be you.
