Good news! The mileage rate that can be claimed by our volunteer drivers has been increased by 10p from 45p to 55p plus 5p per passenger. About time as it is the first increase since 2011!!

HELP NEEDED! We are desperately short of volunteer drivers. Some weeks we only have two drivers available and they are struggling to cover all the requests. As we go in to summer with holidays there will inevitably come a time when we have no one available. Please consider if you can spare an hour to help the vulnerable in our community. Do you have a spare hour here or there? Want to make a real difference in our community without committing to a rigid schedule? Baddesley Friends is looking for friendly volunteer drivers to help our neighbours get out and about!

One of the great reasons to volunteer with Baddesley Friends is the complete flexibility. You’re the boss of your diary: Only take the trips that fit your schedule. Whether you can help once a week or once a month, every journey counts and we provide a mileage allowance to cover fuel costs.

Help neighbours get to hospital/GP appointments, dentist, opticians or just the shops. We coordinate the bookings; you just provide the lift and a friendly chat!

Whether you’re retired, or working from home and fancy a short break, we’d love to have you on board.

The Good Neighbours Network, of which Baddesley Friends is a part, has a petition asking for an increase in mileage allowance for voluntary drivers. The cost of fuel is having an impact on volunteer retention and may be a barrier to volunteering in general. Please could you consider signing this petition. Thank you.

The HMRC mileage rate for reimbursing the use of private cars (e.g. for employees but also volunteers) has been fixed at 45p/mile (up to 10,000 miles) since 2011. The lack of any increase since then is a serious disincentive to volunteer drivers particularly as fuel has gone up again recently.
