🚣 Save Our Boathouse 🚣
Our Scout Group’s boathouse on the River Itchen has been part of our adventures since 1987. Built as a metal structure with an expected lifespan of 30 years, it has proudly served generations of Scouts for nearly 40 years.
But time, harsh salty air, winter flooding, and corrosion have taken their toll. The walls and supporting foundations have rusted so badly that some beams are no longer even touching the floor. Without urgent repairs, we risk losing this important part of our Scout group and everything it provides for young people in our community.
We are launching a fundraising campaign to help:
🔧 Repair and replace rusted support beams
🧱 Build up the bottom 2 feet of the walls with brickwork for long-term protection
🌊 Strengthen the structure against future flooding and corrosion
How can you help?
We are looking for donations to purchase 150 Concrete Blocks, 25 Bags of Sand and 8 bags of cement to build and repair the boathouse walls.
We are looking for skilled volunteers to help lay bricks (and a cement mixer), volunteers to help remove rust as well as help apply red oxide to the walls and supports
Every donation, share, and bit of support will help us protect it for future generations of Scouts. If you would like to help or get involved, please get in touch or keep an eye out for upcoming fundraising events.
