Well we had a rollicking great time down Pirates in the Port in (mainly) sunny Newport. 4 sets delivered (would have been 5 but thanks Arsenal!), listened to some great shanty crews and some excellent single and duet shanty men and women.

Big shout out to Bois Y Bryn who arranged the 2 days - da iawn fi fechgyn

AHOY ME HEARTIES! Southampton Salty Sea Dogs had a great time performing some classic sea shanties on the Fiesta Media Stage @ The Big Eat Hampshire Street Food Festival at Royal Victoria Country Park, Southampton, as part of the May Bank Holiday weekend food festival, supporting our charity Hamble Lifeboat. Thanks to the staff at the Fiesta FM, 106.3 Mhz stage and to Hamble Lifeboat, for letting us busk in front of their stall and to everyone including Captain Jack Sparrow who came along and supported the festival and sang some classic shanties with us. Photographs by Michelpaulphotography. Enjoy. 😀

We can’t wait for our first opportunity to sing a shanty or two in South Wales!Pirates in the Port

Pirates in the Port

A real feast awaits you at the Corn Exchange next weekend!

After you’ve bought your festival Tshirt and programme, got the kids their free pirate colouring set, and settled down with a cool drink, you can enjoy music from Wales - ByB, Beaufort Scale, Press Gangers, Lyceum Club; from the South West - Wrecked Again, Markdon Wonky Donkeys, Odds n Sods; South England - Lower Deckers, GRVIII, Salty Sea Dogs, Short Drag Roger; from London - New River Shanty; from Bristol area - Steepholmers and 85ers. And….you get the final BIG SING.

What more could you ask for?

17 other venues do I hear you say?

Stand by over the next 10 days to hear more!
