Alongside our dedicated volunteers who give their time week in, week out, volunteering team days help us keep our spaces welcoming and our services running smoothly. From hands-on practical jobs to behind-the-scenes support, we’re so grateful you chose to give your time and energy to Solent Mind 💙

As Volunteers’ Week comes to a close, we also want to say a heartfelt thank you to all of the people who volunteer for us regularly. Your ongoing commitment makes everything we do possible, and we’re so grateful for the difference you make every single week.

A huge congratulations to our incredible volunteer, Dave! 💙

This Volunteers’ Week, we’re shining a light on the incredible people who give their time to support mental health in our community - including Dave, one of our amazing volunteers from Eastleigh.

In May, Dave took on an extraordinary challenge, completing an Ironman Triathlon over four consecutive days, that’s a 3.9km swim, 180km bike ride and a 42km marathon!

Through this incredible effort, he has already raised over £2,000 for Solent Mind 👏

But Dave’s impact doesn’t stop there. At our Eastleigh wellbeing centre, he volunteers across a range of roles; from supporting courses to helping set up a men’s group, making a real difference to the people who use our services.

Thank you, Dave - and congratulations on such an inspiring achievement!

Last year, 13,406 volunteering hours were donated across Solent Mind, alongside 158 people who give their time regularly. 🌟

Behind every number is a person who has chosen to support others, to listen, and to help create spaces where people feel understood and less alone. Volunteers are at the heart of what we do, strengthening our services and helping us stay connected to the communities we serve. 💙

During Volunteers’ Week, we want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who gives their time and energy to support better mental health across Hampshire. Your contribution makes a lasting difference.

This week, we will be sharing the many ways our volunteers give their time, and the real difference this makes in helping people feel supported across our communities.

We’re proud to have been chosen as Charity of the Year for 2026 by Southampton Science Park, Paris Smith Southampton offices and Westquay. 💙

Across the year, colleagues from all three organisations will be supporting our work through fundraising, awareness activities and volunteering, helping us to make a meaningful difference for people experiencing mental health problems across our region.

Sally Arscott, CEO of Solent Mind, said: “Being chosen as Charity of the Year by three companies this year is just incredible, and highlights the growing importance of accessible mental health support in our communities."

We’re grateful for their support and look forward to working together to improve mental health in our communities.

Finished university and wondering what comes next? ✨

For many people, this time can feel exciting, but also uncertain. You might be facing big decisions, changes in routine, or pressure to have everything figured out. If that feels familiar, you are not alone. 💙

Taking care of your mental wellbeing during this transition is just as important as planning your next steps. Giving yourself space to explore, focusing on what you can control and talking to people you trust can all help you feel more grounded.

There is no single “right” path after university, and it is okay to take your time. Things do not have to be decided all at once.

“She gave me real hope!” 💬

Tina came to us feeling burnt out and overwhelmed after months of long hours and increasing demands at work. She felt worn down, unsupported and unsure of her next move.
With support from our Employment Support service delivered in partnership with NHS Talking Therapies, Tina began to rebuild her confidence. Through one-to-one sessions and a ‘Managing Moods’ course, she was able to recognise her strengths, explore new possibilities and take steps towards a role that truly suited her. 💙

Today, Tina is thriving in a new job she enjoys, in a workplace that values wellbeing and supports a healthier balance between work and home life. Tina’s story is a reminder that things can change, and with the right support, it’s possible to find a way forward.

If you or someone you know is struggling with work-related stress or low mood, support is available.

Gentle reminders for today in case you need to hear it. 💙
Rest is productive too, taking time to pause, slow down or step back is not falling behind. It's a meaningful part of looking after your mental health and wellbeing. 🛌

On days when things feel overwhelming, or even when they don’t, it can help to remember that small steps still matter, you are stronger than you might feel, and you deserve kindness, especially from yourself.

You don't have to do everything at once. - taking things one moment at a time is enough.
If you would like to talk to someone who understands what living with mental health problems can feel like, you can reach out to us for support. Visit our website to find a service near you.

As Mental Health Awareness Week comes to a close, we’re sharing the last film created for our Thrive campaign by Solent University, Southampton video production students. 🎥

This short video is all about reflections of gratitude. Taking time to notice and acknowledge small moments, people or things that matter to us can support our mental wellbeing and help us stay connected, particularly during challenging times. 💜

Throughout this week, we’ve been encouraging you all to take action for your mental health in ways that feel right for you. Whether that’s connecting with the people around you, thinking about what you’re grateful for or trying a new wellbeing technique to support your mental health.

But our support doesn’t stop after Mental Health Awareness Week. Our Thrive webpage will be available all year, alongside our mental health services. Whenever you’re ready, take action for your mental health. ☎️
