We’re continuing to meet up with campaign groups who are working for a greener, fairer system and this evening Helen 4 Whitley Bay North and I met with Alison from the Fossil Free Tyne & Wear Divestment Campaign 💚

The pensions fund world is quite complicated but each year, our council tax in North Tyneside Council feeds into the wider Tyne & Wear Pension Fund ⏭️

And now, the Tyne & Wear Pension Fund is part of the megafund Border to Coast Pensions Partnership, which has over £100 billion in holdings 💰

The decisions made by the pension funds matter and getting rid of stocks, bonds or investment funds that are unethical and damaging the environment and shifting to alternative can have benefits for people and planet 🌍

We will look at what we can do to support the divestment campaign on North Tyneside Council and you can do the same by following their account and pages 👍

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) Pension Fund and its actuary, Hymans Robertson, are facing a judicial review as climate campaigners challenge the fund’s climate risk assessment

which will decide how the Local Government Pensions Scheme money is spent in future. As campaigners we're getting together on 19th. May to make sure we have a say in this. Please join us at our first meeting of the new Fund and/or share with people who you know in these areas.
