Nice article highlighting a great shopping area. A great mix of essential services for the local community including a great little bike recycling centre providing servicing, repairs and low cost recycled bikes.

The Nook isn’t your typical high street. It has its own identity, its own pace, and a real sense of familiarity.

As it's a bank holiday on Monday, the drop-in won't be on. however, it will be on again on Thursday, 4pm to 6pm, where we will be happy to help young people with their bike repairs.

South Tyneside bike club, the Temple Raiders, is showing kids how to fix their own ride.

We are not open Bank Holiday Monday, but we are open Saturday 10am to 4pm.

This bike deserves a place, and a rider, in the Wooler Wheel Classic too!

Here's yet another of our wonder bikes. These were once the most coveted bikes around, before E-bikes, mountain bikes, and BMXs, everyone wanted a racer. The Raleigh Team Banana was the bike to be seen on. It wasn't the fastest or lightest, but was certainly the coolest, and probably still is. It still draws lots of attention in the shop every day. However, it's still there and needs a new rider.

We are considering taking this as one of the 'Old Bikes' for our Wooler Wheel on Old Bikes challenge ride. You can support Abbey and Gerard, TO's youth workers with our Temple Raiders bike group by donating online here: https://fundraising.tynesideoutdoors.org.uk/fundraising/wooler-wheel-on-an-old-bike

TO is all about getting active outdoors. Yes, we don't just fix and sell bikes, we help young people to enjoy the outdoors in all sorts of ways, and yes bikes do feature quite a bit.

We're proud of our youth work in Newcastle and South Shields, getting young people to enjoy their outdoor spaces and try new activities. We received an award from the Tyne and Wear High Sherif in March, for our work engaging young people in positive activities.

However, funding to keep our youth work activities going is extremely hard to find, yet we know youth work works!

Please support our Youth Workers, Abbey and Gerard, on their Wooler Wheel on Old Bikes challenge, to raise funds for our youth work activities.

Tyneside Outdoors Youth Workers, Abbey and Gerard, are taking a couple of our donated bikes for a spin, up a couple of little hills, near that there place called Wooler in Northumberland.

The ride, 60km/37.5 miles, aims to raise funds for TO's youth work activities, but there's a twist, they're doing the ride on some of our older donated bikes. These bikes are some of our most difficult bikes to sell, yet they're great bikes. They were once their rider's pride and joy. Their training is already underway and as we understand it, them pesky 1970's gears and brakes are causing some frustration.

Please support TO by donating to their challenge and/or maybe calling into the shop to try out one of these great bikes, maybe next year you can ride the Wooler Wheel Classic on an old bike too?

Fundraiser - It's about time!  The Wooler Wheel has been on the list of things to do for too long, so it's about time we, Abbey and Gerard, got on our bikes and did it!   However, this is not simply a nice ride in the countryside. We know it's nice co...

Something's broken! Not us of course, we're doing great, helping our local community with cost effective reliable repairs and servicing, as well as affordable refurbished bikes for sale. It's called a circular economy, we help the local community and they help us to help more. We support young people who become young volunteers and then become our future staff, who support more young people, who then volunteer... The cycle continues, if you'll pardon the pun.

However, we're in need of a little more help at the moment. Particularly Volunteer Bike Mechanics to help out in the shop. There are other roles too, so if you fancy helping us to help others please call in to the shop, get in touch via our social media pages or website.
