We are incredibly grateful to the Lynmouth Classic Car event who have been fundraising for ESRT this year.

Team members collected a very handsome cheque this week and answered questions about the work of the team to all the Lyn Valley classic supporters who came out in force through the evening to see what their fundraising helped to achieve.

Thank you again.

Swiftwater Flood Rescue Boat Operator (SFRBO)

Three members of Exmoor Search & Rescue Team recently attended a Rescue 3 Swift and Flood Water Rescue Boat Operator Course, delivered by Adventure Consultancy.

The course provided a combination of classroom-based learning and practical exercises, with training taking place on the River Severn and on the Menai Straits. The Menai Straits provided particularly valuable experience of operating in a tidal environment, with changing water conditions adding an additional dimension to the training. The varied locations provided an excellent opportunity to develop and practise skills in different river and tidal environments.

The training covered the principles and techniques required to operate safely in swift and flood water. The practical sessions enabled team members to develop their confidence and competence in operating a rescue boat in challenging conditions.

The three members gained a recognised Rescue 3 qualification, further strengthening the team’s operational capability and its ability to support partner agencies during water-related incidents.

💪Med Masters the Mountains

Team member Med has completed his fantastic team fundraiser over the weekend to support the work of ESRT…. The Welsh 3000’s. 15 peaks and 45 km in one continuous expedition, is a seriously impressive personal challenge.

A few shots here of him conquering the summits. Well done Med and Thank you from all at ESRT 🙏

You may have seen throughout our patch our collection tins in pubs, tea rooms, and shops. Thank you to all of you who help us by advertising the work of the team and putting one of our tins out for folk to see and use.

These days, with everyone having less cash, we understand this might mean you don't have pennies on you to put in the tin. Don't worry, on the side is also a QR code which will take you straight to our SumUp donation page. Exmoor Search and Rescue is a completely voluntary organisation and relies entirely on public donations to respond 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Your support is really appreciated by us and the people we help.

Water section training

With a lack of water in the rivers, the water section usually takes advantage of the summer months to do their Kit checks, as well as annual knots, anchors and mechanical advantage refresher at the Rescue centre.

This month we also had some input from our two instructors from their recent Vehicles in water course on how to use our sled as a working platform with a ladder from the bank to position it next to the flooded vehicle.

Dry run throughs allow us to practice new techniques safely before putting in the dynamism of flowing water and slippy banks.

🌞Team Summer BBQ🌞

😎After a hectic couple of weeks of callouts it was nice to have the opportunity for a team social get together and unwind in this gorgeous weather. Thanks to Eoin and Family for hosting the ESRT Summer BBQ.

👍It was also great to have all the families there, partners, children and pets as when we’re out on Callouts, they all have to be accommodating for the missed teas, play dates and jobs that were going to get done when we had to dash off and leave them.

🥂So thank you to our extended ESRT family too for your understanding.
