We are the South Molton branch who meet regularly at The Coaching Inn on the first Monday of each month, we welcome anyone from the wider Armed Forces The Royal British Legion, formerly the British Legion, is a British charity providing financial, social and emotional support to members and veterans of the British Armed Forces, their families and dependants, as well as all others in need. ish Legion was founded in 1921 as a voice for the ex-service community as a bringing together of four organisations: the Comrades of the Great War, the National Association of Discharged Sailors and Soldiers and the National Federation of Discharged and Demobilised Sailors and Soldiers, and incorporated the fundraising department of the Officers' Association. Perhaps best known for the yearly Poppy Appeal and Remembrance services, the Legion is a campaigning organisation that promotes the welfare and interests of current and former members of the British Armed Forces. The Legion support nearly 36,000 War Disablement Pension cases for war veterans and make around 300,000 welfare and friendship visits every year.

Crew of HMS Dragon took time during operations in the Arabian Sea to pay a traditional flight deck tribute to all those involved in and Operation Neptune.

6 June 1944: Operation Overlord begins with D-Day.

Thousands of Allied men and tanks storm Normandy's beaches and secure a beach head - heralding the end of the Reich.

The scale was vast. On the 6th of June alone, 160,000 troops would land from a fleet of 5,000 vessels accompanied by an aerial armada of 1,200 aircraft.
