What a week!!
Lots of successful rescues, a few with sad outcomes, but at least the animal was safe and cared for at the end of its life and any pain they were in was ended.
I can’t fit all the rescues in as the limit is 10 photos!
The hoglets are called Rock, Pebble and Stone as when they were found the finder described them as pebble sized. They have grown so much since they arrived and are happily feeding themselves and will be released when they reach the appropriate size.
Sadly one of the puffins found in Ilfracombe didn’t survive, and the fox, despite all best efforts by Moorland Vets who carried out extensive blood test which all came back normal, so he hadn’t been poisoned which was the first concern. He was collapsed and hypothermic on the patio of the finders home appeared to have neurological issues and was put to sleep the day after it was captured as it was in his best interests as he was clearly suffering.
The second puffin found at Staunton Sands is doing really well and ate yesterday with help, and today is feeding itself. Hopefully it will continue to improve daily and will be able to be released back to Lundy and in the process it might possibly teach our resident puffin how to puffin so it too can be released!!
We are drastically short on the following items kitten wet food, adult cat wet food, cat litter, Critical Care Formula and disinfectant. All can be found on our Amazon wishlist which is a link on this profile, or can be found on our website www.littlestwildlifehotel.org.uk
We are also short on finances, if anyone is able to donate even £1 we would massively appreciate it. The large variety of animals we have in is rather expensive to feed, clean and generally care for. Lots needing critical care in incubators. Again donation links are on our website.
Thank you for reading this and caring about our wildlife.
