What a fantastic day!
With huge thanks to Rudding Park for hosting us this morning for some brilliant acorn collecting with the team and families from Belzona. We had 30 enthusiastic collectors who harvested a whopping 87.7kgs of acorns, which is approximately 10,000 acorns.
Considering it has been quite a poor year this year for acorns it is a huge number and will contribute considerably to the availability of locally sourced trees in several years time.
These acorns are already at Thorpe Trees where they will be planted out this week. I was given a tour this afternoon of the tree nursery - more on that to follow!
