Summer of Sport rolls on with a FREE takeover at Hamilton Palace Sports Ground on Friday 7 August! 🥳

Running from 12 noon–4pm, there will be plenty for children and families to enjoy, including:

⚽ Free football
🥅 Beat the Goalie
🎯 Crossbar Challenge
🖌️ Face painting
🥁 The chance to try playing the drums
🎭 Arts and crafts

There is no need to book and everything is completely FREE, so come along and join in the fun!

This is just one of the many activities taking place as part of our Summer of Sport programme across South Lanarkshire. From free sports and swimming to family activities, events and coached sessions, there is something for children and young people of all ages.

You can also join us at East Kilbride Ice Rink on Wednesday 5 August from 2.15pm–3.45pm for another FREE takeover featuring ice skating with a live DJ, face painting, arts and crafts, library activities and podcasting.

What a brilliant two days we’ve had with Snow Camp Charity on their First Tracks course! 🎿🏂

Our young people learned to ski or snowboard, met new people, developed new skills and strengthened important life skills through teamwork, wellbeing, determination and pushing themselves beyond their comfort zones.

Young people came together from:

❄️ Hyper Cyber Youth Project
❄️ givit_somestreet
❄️ Springhall and Whitlawburn Youth Development
❄️ Radworx Action-sports
❄️ Strutherhill & Birkenshaw Youth Project
❄️ Fernhill Youth Project

The effort and perseverance shown by everyone was incredible. They supported and motivated one another throughout the two days, whilst having a laugh along the day, it was fantastic to see! Some of our young people have even put their names forward for the next stage of Snow Camp 🙌🏽

A huge thank you to the Snow Camp staff team for this amazing opportunity and experience. A special shout-out to the Snow Camp apprentices and Youth Forum volunteers—you guys were brilliant and helped make it such a memorable experience for our young people!

It was especially powerful to see some of our own peer educators/Instructors, who help deliver harm-reduction workshops, Skateboarding lessons etc connecting and working alongside other young peer educators and instructors.

Young people empowering other young people to achieve their goals is incredibly powerful! 🙌🏽🤙🏽

Some of our amazing young volunteers and young people at Hyper Cyber Youth Project have decided to take part in South Lanarkshire Leisures Colour Run at Calderglen Country Park on Sunday 26th July!

They’ve even managed to persuade a few staff members to get their trainers on and join them! 👟

The young people are hoping to raise some money to go towards activities, resources and trips for the young people we support.

Last week some of our talented young people from GIVIT some STREET took to the stage at delivering a short performance on this years theme of Intersectionality and issues that affect young people.
Our young people worked really hard on this performance and were delighted to receive a standing ovation!

Day 2 of will also feature a performance from GIVIT some STREET, an early intervention programme which offers trusting relationships, one to one support, group work, diversionary work and creative practice to those beginning to take risks around alcohol or substances, or who are affected by a loved one’s substance use.

We’re very much looking forward to this part of the programme!
